NOXIOUS INSECTS ACT 1934 - REGULATION

(Relating to rates)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Noxious Insects Act 1934, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

The Noxious Insects Regulations are amended:

(a) by omitting clauses 5 - 35;
(b) by inserting after Regulation 40 the following Regulation:

Special rate, 1990

41. The amount of the special rate to be made and levied under section 10 of the Act in respect of the year commencing 1 January 1990 is:

(a)

in the case of ratable land within the Pastures Protection Districts of Bega, Bombala, Braidwood, Casino, Cooma, Gloucester, Goulburn, Grafton, Kempsey, Moss Vale and Tweed-Lismore - 1 cent per stock unit equivalent of carrying capacity of the land as assessed by the relevant pastures protection board under the Pastures Protection Act 1934; and

(b)

in the case of ratable land within a Pastures Protection District not referred to in paragraph (a) - 1.4 cents per

stock unit equivalent of carrying capacity of the land as assessed by the relevant pastures protection board under the Pastures Protection Act 1934.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to amend the Noxious Insects Regulations so as:

(a) to prescribe the rate to be levied in 1990 on ratable land within a Pastures Protection District as a contribution to the cost of the suppression and destruction of noxious insects; and
(b) to omit certain clauses, relating to rates prescribed for previous years, which are no longer required.
