REGULATIONS UNDER THE NORTHERN TERRITORY (ADMINISTRATION) ACT
1910-1961.*
WHEREAS by section four c of the NorthernTerritory (Administration) Act 1910-1961 it is
provided, amongst other things, that for the purposes of the election of the
members of the Legislative Council for the Territory referred to in paragraph (d) of sub-section (2.) of
section four of that Act, the Northern Territory of Australia shall be
distributed into eight Electoral Districts:
And whereas by section four ca of that Act it is provided,
amongst other things, that the boundaries of each Electoral District shall be
as prescribed, after report to the Minister by a Distribution Committee
appointed under section four cc of that Act:
And whereas the Distribution
Committee so appointed has forwarded to the Minister of State for Territories a
report in accordance with section four ch of that Act:
Now therefore I, the
Governor-General in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the
advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations
under the NorthernTerritory (Administration) Act 1910-1961.

Northern Territory Electoral Districts Regulations.
Citation.
1. These Regulations may be cited as the
Northern Territory Electoral Districts Regulations.
Repeal.
2. The Northern Territory
Electoral Districts Regulations (being Statutory Rules 1959, No. 105) are
repealed.
Definitions.
3. In these Regulations—
“North Australia Railway” means
the railway between Darwin and Birdum;
“the town of Darwin” means the land in the Territory described in the
Schedule to the Proclamation under the Crown Lands Ordinance 1931-1948 of the
Territory published in the Gazette on the nineteenth day
of January, One thousand nine hundred and fifty.

Boundaries
of Electoral Districts.
4. For the purposes of
the election of members of the Legislative Council referred to in paragraph (d) of sub-section (2.) of
section 4 of the NorthernTerritory (Administration) Act 1910-1961—
(a) the eight Electoral Districts referred to in section 4c of that Act shall be known as the
Electoral District of Nightcliff, the Electoral District of Fannie Bay, the Electoral District of Port Darwin, the Electoral District of
Arnhem, the Electoral District of Elsey, the Electoral District of Barkly, the
Electoral District of Alice Springs and the Electoral District of Stuart,
respectively; and
(b) the boundaries of each of those Electoral Districts are the boundaries
respectively set out in the Schedule to these Regulations in relation to that
Electoral District.

Royal Australian Air Force Defence Reserve; thence southerly along that
prolongation and the eastern boundary of the defence reserve and its
prolongation southerly to the centre-line of the North Australia Railway;
thence generally westerly by that centre-line to the boundary of the town of
Darwin; thence northerly westerly northwesterly southwesterly northerly and
northwesterly by that boundary to the mouth of Ludmilla Creek; thence by the
sea-coast generally northerly and northeasterly to the centre-line of Rapid
Creek; thence generally southerly by that centre-line to the point of
commencement.

Electoral District of Fannie Bay | Commencing at the intersection
of the centre-line of Mindil Beach Road and the centre-line of Gilruth
Avenue; thence northwesterly by the centre-line of Mindil Beach Road and its
prolongation to high water mark; thence west to low water mark; thence by low
water mark generally northerly and northwesterly to a point west of East
Point; thence east to the sea-coast at East Point; thence generally easterly
by the sea-coast to the centre-line of Ludmilla Creek being the boundary of
the town of Darwin; thence by that boundary southeasterly southerly
northeasterly southeasterly easterly southerly and generally southerly
westerly and southwesterly to a point east of the most eastern corner of Lot
1908; thence west to that comer; thence northwesterly and westerly along
boundaries of Lot 1908 and Lot 1909 to a northern corner of Lot 1909; thence
northwesterly to the eastern corner of Lot 2048; thence northwesterly and
southwesterly by boundaries of that lot to the prolongation of the
centre-line of Henry Street; thence northwesterly and westerly by that
prolongation the centreline of Henry Street and its
prolongation westerly to the centre-line of the North Australia Railway;
thence northerly by that centreline and
northwesterly by the centre-line of the old Vestey spur-line to the

minutes south and the meridian of longitude 138 degrees east; thence south by
that meridian to a point east of Cape Barrow; thence west to Cape Barrow;
thence southerly along the sea coast of the Gulf of Carpentaria to a point
east of the most eastern northeast corner of Pastoral Lease 621; thence west
to that corner and a boundary of the Arnhem Land Aboriginal Reserve; thence
by boundaries of that reserve generally westerly northerly westerly southerly
westerly and northerly to a point on a western boundary of that reserve east
of the most eastern south-east corner of Pastoral Lease 561; thence west to
that corner; thence westerly southerly and westerly along southern eastern
and southern boundaries of that Pastoral Lease and part of the northern
boundary of Pastoral Lease 631 and its prolongation westerly to the most
western northwest corner of Northern Territory Portion 696; thence southerly
