REGULATIONS UNDER THE NORTHERN TERRITORY (ADMINISTRATION) ACT 1910-1962.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Northern Territory (Administration) Act 1910-1962.

Northern Territory Administrator’s Council (Fees, Allowances and Expenses) Regulations.

Citation.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Northern Territory Administrator’s Council (Fees, Allowances and Expenses) Regulations.

Repeal.

2. The Northern Territory Administrator’s Council (Fees, Allowances and Expenses) Regulations (comprising Statutory Rules 1960, No. 20) are repealed.

Commencement.

3. These Regulations shall be deemed to have come into operation on the first day of February, 1963.

Definition.

4. In these Regulations—

“member of the Administrator’s Council” means a member of the Administrator’s Council, other than the Administrator or a member who is an official member of the Legislative Council.

Fees of members.

5. A member of the Administrator’s Council shall receive a fee at the rate of Two hundred and fifty pounds a year.

Travelling allowance of members.

6. Where a member of the Administrator’s Council is absent from his home overnight by reason of his attendance at a meeting of the Administrator’s Council, the member shall receive a travelling allowance of Six pounds six shillings for each day during which he is so absent from his home.

Travelling expenses of of members.

7. Where a member of the Administrator’s Council makes a journey for the purpose of attending a meeting, or for the purpose of attending to business, of the Administrator’s Council, the Administrator may authorize in respect of the whole, or such part as he considers reasonable, of the journey—

(a) the reimbursement to the member of the cost of his fare for so much of the whole, or the part, of the journey as was made by public transport;

(b) the reimbursement to the member of the cost of transporting his excess baggage by public transport up to and including thirty-five pounds weight; and

(c) the payment to the member of a mileage allowance, in accordance with the following table, for so much of the whole, or the part, of the journey as was made by means of a motor vehicle not engaged in public transport:—

Members not entitled to double payment of travelling allowances and expenses.

8. Notwithstanding anything contained in these Regulations, where a member of the Administrator’s Council is entitled to receive payment of either—

(a) a travelling allowance under regulation 6 of these Regulations in respect of a day; or

(b) travelling expenses under the last preceding regulation in respect of a journey,

he is not also entitled to payment at the same time of travelling allowance in respect of the day or travelling expenses in respect of the journey, as the case may be, under the Northern Territory Legislative Council (Fees, Allowances and Expenses) Regulations.
