for the aSTorthern Suburbs of Sydney : And whereas, on the passing of the said resolution, a statutory duty was by the said Act imposed on the Minister to introduce a Bill into the said Assembly to sanction the carrying out the said work : Be it therefore enacted by the King’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South 'Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—

1. This Act may be cited as the “ Northern Suburbs

Sewerage Act, 1918.”

2. The carrying out of the work (more par­

ticularly described in the Schedule to this Act) is hereby sanctioned ; and the Minister for Public AYorks, or the member of the Executive Council for the time being performing the duties of the said Minister, is hereby authorised to undertake and carry out the said work, subject to the provisions of this Act, and for that purpose shall he and have the powers of a Con­ structing Authority within the meaning of the Public IVorks Act, 1912.

“ Northern Suljurhs Ocean Outfall Sewer,” signed by the IMinister for Public lYorks, and countersigned by the Chief Engineer for TV̂ ater Supply and Sewerage, and deposited in the public office of the said Minister.

4. The cost of caiTying out the said work, estimated

at two millions two hundred and tliirty-six thousand pounds, may he defrayed from such Loan Azotes as are now or may hereafter he applicable to tliat jmrpose, or from appro])riations of the Public AÂ orks Eund, or pai’tly from such votes and partly from the said appropriations.

T h e construction of 20:j miles, more or les.s, of gravitution sewer ; Coiniiieneing a t the waters of the Pacific Ocean a little to the soutli of tli(' lieadland known as Bluofi.sh, near iManly, and extending thence, mainly in tunnel, generally south-westerl_v, crossing the imndeii'ality of H an lj ' , .Middle llarbiiur, municipality of 'Willouglihy, shire of .Eu-ring-gai, Lane Cove River, municipalities of Ryde, and Ennington, and Rydalmere, shire of Raulkham Hills, and municipality of P arra­ matta, to a point near Toongabbic Ci'eek, in the shire of Rlaektown ; thence in tunnel, tnuich, and aqueduct south-westerly and southerly to a point near W cntwortln illc Station.

The construction of 11.1 miles, more or less, of gravitiition sewer from a point on the main sew t r near the head of North Ibivbotir, generally northerly to a ])oint north of Narrabeen Lagoon.

The construction of 1 miles, more or le.ss, of grtivitation sewer fioin a point on the main sewer north of The Spit, Middle Jhirbour, south­ easterly to a point on the Rocky Castle klstate.

The construction of .■)[ miles, more or le.s.s, of gravitation sewer from ii point on the main sewer, west of Middle Harbour, sj)uth-casteilv and easterly to a point near Edwards Beach.

The construction (jf .0 miles, more or less, of giavitation sew er from !i point on the main sewer, west of Middle Harbour, north-westerly to a point near the junction of Rare and Middle Harbour Creeks.

The construction of 1 miles, mure or les-!, of gravitation sewer from a point on the main sew er e.ast (T the Lane Cove River, nortli-westerly along the eastern si<le of that river to a point near its jiniction w ith Tcri'y's Creek.

The construction of •'! j’ miles, more or less, of gravitation si'.viu' from a j)oint on the main sewer east of the Lane Cove River, south-westerly .and south-easterly to ;i point east of (tore Creel:.

The construction of I miles, more or less, of giavitalion sewer fi'om a point on the main sewau- west of the J.ane Cove River, north-westerly along the western side of th a t river to a point near its junction with 'Huu'y’s Creek.

The construction of .'1 miles, more or less, of gravitation sewer frcmi a point on the main sewer west of the Lane Cove Rivei', south westerly and .south-easterly to a point nesr Tarhan Creek ; together with branches to Cladcsville and to the head of IMorrison Bay'.

The abov(! works to include shafts, man holes, ventilating shafts, ariueducts, syphons, o\itfall works, ccnneclions, rising mains, or any­ thing incidental to the scheme or necessary for its proper completion.

The w'orks above described are subject to such deviations and modifi­ cations as may be deemed necessary.
