REGULATIONS UNDER THE NORFOLK ISLAND ACT 19791

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Norfolk Island Act 1979.

NORFOLK ISLAND LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY (TEMPORARY CLERK) REGULATIONS

Citation

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Norfolk Island Legislative Assembly (Temporary Clerk) Regulations.

Commencement

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the date fixed under sub-section 2 (2) of the Norfolk Island Act 1979.

Appointment of temporary clerk to Norfolk Island Legislative Assembly and deputy temporary clerk

3. (1) The Minister may appoint a person to be temporary clerk to the Legislative Assembly.

(2) A person so appointed shall, until a person is appointed under the Legislative Assembly Ordinance 1979 to be the Clerk, or to act as Clerk, to the Legislative Assembly, act as Clerk to the Legislative Assembly and, until the Legislative Assembly otherwise determines, has such powers, functions and duties as the Minister determines.

(3) The Minister may appoint a person to be deputy temporary clerk to the Legislative Assembly.

(4) A person so appointed shall, until a person is appointed to be the Clerk, or to act as Clerk, to the Legislative Assembly, assist the temporary Clerk to the Legislative Assembly in the exercise and performance of the powers, functions and duties of the temporary clerk.
