Non-Indigenous Animals Act 1987

His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Non-Indigenous Animals Act 1987.

Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to amend the Non-Indigenous Animals

Regulation 1997 as follows:

(a)	to exempt category 3b animals (such as camels and water buffalo) from the prohibition specified in section 12 of the Non-Indigenous Animals Act 1987 against moving or transporting such animals,
(b)	to make it clear that exemptions from the prohibition against moving or transporting certain animals extend to persons who are acting on behalf of the exempted persons,
(c)	to remove the late fee payable for licences or renewals of licences,
(d)	to reclassify cane toads, American alligators and brown caimans from category 3b (a lower risk category) to category 2 (a higher risk category),
(e)	to reclassify rhinoceros iguanas from category 2 (animals limited to restricted collections) to category 3a (animals permitted in other collections),
(f)	to reclassify American bison from category 3a to category 3b,
(g)	to classify pumas as category 3a animals.

1      Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Non-Indigenous Animals Amendment
(Miscellaneous) Regulation 2000.

2 Amendment of Non-Indigenous Animals Regulation 1997

The Non-Indigenous Animals Regulation 1997 is amended as set out in Schedule 1.
