His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Non-Indigenous Animals Act 1987.

Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to amend the Non-Indigenous Animals
Regulation 1997 as follows:
| (a) | to exempt category 3b animals (such as camels and water buffalo) from the prohibition specified in section 12 of the Non-Indigenous Animals Act 1987 against moving or transporting such animals, |
| (b) | to make it clear that exemptions from the prohibition against moving or transporting certain animals extend to persons who are acting on behalf of the exempted persons, |
| (c) | to remove the late fee payable for licences or renewals of licences, |
| (d) | to reclassify cane toads, American alligators and brown caimans from category 3b (a lower risk category) to category 2 (a higher risk category), |
| (e) | to reclassify rhinoceros iguanas from category 2 (animals limited to restricted collections) to category 3a (animals permitted in other collections), |
| (f) | to reclassify American bison from category 3a to category 3b, |
| (g) | to classify pumas as category 3a animals. |

This Regulation is made under the Non-Indigenous Animals Act 1987, including sections 5, 6, 12, 14 (3) and 29 (the general regulation-making power).

1 Name of Regulation
This Regulation is the Non-Indigenous Animals Amendment
(Miscellaneous) Regulation 2000.
2 Amendment of Non-Indigenous Animals Regulation 1997
The Non-Indigenous Animals Regulation 1997 is amended as set out in Schedule 1.

Insert “(and persons acting on their behalf)” after “persons” in clause 12.
