Non-Indigenous Animals Amendment

(Domestic Yaks) Regulation 1998

Non-indigenous Animals Act 1987

His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has

made the following Regulation under the Non-Indigenous Animals Act 1987.

Explanatory note

The object of this Regulation is to classify the domestic yak (Bos “grunniens”) as a category 2 animal under the Non-Indigenous Animals Act 1987. This will allow a person holding a relevant licence or permit under that Act, or an authority to exhibit domestic yaks under the Exhibited Animals Act 1986 (eg zoos), to import, move and keep animals of that species.

This Regulation is made under the Non-Indigenous Animals Act 1987, including sections 6 and 29 (the general regulation-making power).
