TTTHFiREAS in accordance with the provisions of the Public Preamble.
AA'orks Act, 1900, tlic Legislative Assembly did, by resolution, declare that it was expedient to carry out a certain work, namely, the construction of a timber wharf one thousand two hundred feet in length, extending westerly from the foot of 'Merewether-street, iS’ewcastle, towards the Carrington Bridge, and the erection in con nection therewith of two sheds for the storage of goods : And whereas on th(! passing of llie said resolution a statutory duty was by the said Act im])osc'd on the Secretary for Public Al'orks to introduce a Bill into the said Assembly to sanction tlic carrying out of the said work : Be it tlierefore enacted b\" tbe King’s Alost Excellent Alajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South AVales in Parliament assembled, and by tbe authority of tbe same, as follows :—

in tbe Seliedulc to this Act) is hereby ̂ sanctioned ; and the Secretaiy for Public AVorks, or the Alemher of the Executive Council for the time being performing the duties of the said Secretary, is hereby ̂ autliorised to undertake and cany' out the said AVorks, sulijeet to the provisions of tliis Act, and for that purpose shall be and sliall haA'o the powt'i's ;md duties of a Constructing Authority within tlie meaning of the Pul)lic AVorks Act, 1900.
3. Tlie plan of the said work is tlie jilan marked “ Newcastle I’lan ..i w.nk.
Harbour (AVharfage Accommodation),” sigrual by the Seeretaiw for Public AVorks, and countersigned by the Chief Engineer for Rivers, AVater Supjily, and Drainage, and deposited in the public otricc of the said Secretary.
4 . The cost of carryiim out the said work, estimated at twentv- Cost, iiowtobe

| Votes as arc now or may hereafter be ajijdicable to that purpose, or from the Public AVorks Eund, and shall not under any circumstances exceed the estimated cost by more than ten per centum. |
