n'orks Act, I'JOO, the Legaskitive Asscnnhly did, hy resolution, dochiro tliat it was (jxpedient to carry out a certain work, namely, ('xtendin^ the Northern Breakwater at Newcastle Ilarhour entrance: And whereas, on the ])assing’ of tin* said resolution, a statutory duty was hy the said Act imposed on the Secretary for Buhlic Works to introduce a Bill into tlie said Assembly to sanction tlie carrying out of the said Avork ; Be it therefore enacted hy the Kind’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and Avith the advic(; and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative' Assemhly of N cav South "Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the; authority of the same, as follows ;—

2. The carrying out of the Avork, more particularly described in u’oiu s;ui. lioncd.

the Schedule to this Act, is hereby sanctioned, and the Secretary for Public AVorks, or the member of the Executive Council for the time being performing the duties of the said Secretary, is hereby authorised to undertake and carry out the said Avork, subject to the j)rovisions of this Act, and for that purpose shall be, and shall have the poAA'crs and duties of, a “ Constructing Authority” Avithin the meaning of the

Public AVorks Act, 1000. '

3. The plan of the said works is the jilan marked “ Newcastle Harbour, Extension of Northern Breakwater,” signed by the Secretary for Public AA'oi'ks, and countersigned by the Chief Enginec'r for Harbours and AATiter Supply, and deposit('d in the public ollice of the said Secretary.

4 . The cost of carrying out the said Avorks, estimated at thirty- Cuo, and how

four thousand seven hundred and fifty pounds, may be defrayed from such Loan Votes as are noAV, or may hereafter be, applicable to that purpose, or from appropriations of the Public AÂ orks Eund, or partly from such votes and partly from the said appropriations, and shall not under any circumstances exceed the estimated cost by more than ten per centum.
