the Public Works Act, 1912, the Legislative Assembly did, by resolution, declare that it was expedient to carry out a certain Avork, namely, the construction of a floating dock at NeAvcastle ; And

whereas, on the passin" of the said resolution, a statutory duty was by the said Act imposed on the Secretary for Public \Vorks to introduce a Bill into the said Assembly to sanction the carrying out of the said work : Be it therefore enacted by the King’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the tiuthority of the same, as follows :—

Short title.	1 . This Act may be cited as the “ Newcastle Floating Dock Act, 1913.”
Work	2 . Tlie carrying out of the work (more particularly described in tlic Schedule to this Act) is hereby sanc­ tioned, and the Secretary for Public Works, or the member of the Executive Council for the time being performing the duties of the said Secretary, is hereby authorised to undertake and carry out the said work, subject to the provisions of this Act, and for that purpose shall be and shall have the powers of a Con­ structing Authority within the meaning of the Public Works Act, 1912.

how to l)c	3 . The cost of carrying out the said work, estimated at one hundred and ten thousand pounds, may he defrayed from such loan votes as arc now, or may here­ after be, applicable to tlie purpose, or from appi’opriations of the Public "Works Eund, or partly from such votes and partly from such appropriations, and shall not, under any circumstances, exceed the estimated cost by more than ten per centum.

SCHEDULE.

TriF. construction ,and delivery of a floating dock of the boltod- sectional type, designed to lift vessels having a displacement of 8,500 tons.

The deepening of site for mooring a floating dock hy dredging.

The construction of wharfage sheds and other appurtenances near

the site of the dock.

The work to be carried out subject to such modifications as may be found dcssirable by the Constructing Authority as the construction proceeds.
