BE it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, lative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of
the same, as follows :—

1 .    (1) This Act may be cited as the "New South "Wales

University of Technology (Construction) Act, 1951."
(2) This Act shall be deemed to have commenced

upon the twelfth day of May, one thousand nine hundred

and forty-nine.

2 . (1) (a) The carrying out of the work described in

(b) The said work shall be deemed to be an authorised work within the meaning of the Public Works- Act, 1912, as amended by subsequent Acts.

(c) The Minister for Public Works is

empowered to carry out the said work and shall be the Constructing Authority for the same within the meaning of the said Act, and shall enter into such contracts and take all such necessary steps for the proper execution thereof as such Authority may think proper.

(d) The provisions of the Public Works Act,. 1912, as amended by subsequent Acts, sections thirty- four, thirty-live, thirty-six and thirty-seven excepted, shall apply to and in respect of the said work.

(e) Nothing contained in this subsection shall in any manner affect or limit the operation of the provisions of section forty-nine of the Technical Education and New South Wales University of Technology Act, 1949.

(2) Without prejudice to the generality of sub­ section one of this section the provisions of section thirty-eight of the Public Works Act, 1912, as amended by subsequent Acts, shall apply to and in respect of any contracts referred to in paragraph (c) of subsection one- of this section.

3 . The cost of carrying out the said work, exclusive of land resumptions, is estimated at one million one hundred thousand pounds and such estimated cost shall not in any circumstances be exceeded by more than ten

per centum. SCHEDULE.

The construction, equipment and providing of buildings and other •works for the New South Wales University of Technology, as follows:—

(a)

a permanent building of brick and fire-resistant materials, in part three floors and in part four floors to accommodate the Schools of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Mechanical Drawing and Design, Geology and Mineral Engineering, together with administrative offices, lecture theatre and. cafeteria;

(b)

thirteen single storied aluminium clad buildings to accom- modate the School of Chemical Engineering;

(c)

furniture, equipment and electrical and mechanical engi- neering services for the said buildings;

(d)

access roads, laying out of grounds and other incidental works deemed necessary or desirable by the Constructing Authority.

The above shall be subject to such modifications and deviations as

"the Constructing Authority may deem necessary.
