NEW SOUTH WALES STATE CANCER COUNCIL

(AMENDMENT) ACT.

Act No. 32, 1962.

Elizabeth II, An Act to make further provision with respect to the

purpose to amend the New South Wales State Cancer Council Act, 1955; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 3rd December, 1962.]

O E it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by

and with the advice and consent of the Legislative

Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in

Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as

follows: —

Short title

1.

(1 ) This Act may be cited as the “New South Wales

and citation. State Cancer Council (Amendment) Act, 1 9 6 2 ” .

(2) The New South Wales State Cancer Council Act,

1955, is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.

(3) The New South Wales State Cancer Council Act, 1955, as amended by this Act, may be cited as the New South Wales State Cancer Council Act, 1955-1962.

2.      ( 1 ) Upon a day to be appointed b y the Governor and No- 32,1962

notified by proclamation published in the Gazette (which day Reconstitu-

South Wales State Cancer Council shall be reconstituted and state Cancer

shall consist of eight members in accordance with section five Council,

of the Principal Act, as amended by this section.

(2) Subject to the Principal Act, as amended by this

Act—

(a)

as from the appointed day the persons who immed­ iately before the appointed day held office, or purported to hold office, as members of the New South Wales State Cancer Council shall be deemed to hold and to continue to hold office as such members; and

(b)

the member of the Council first appointed pursuant to paragraph (g) of subsection one of section five of the Principal Act, as amended by this section, shall hold office,

until the twelfth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and sixty-four, and shall, if otherwise qualified, be eligible for reappointment.

(3) Nothing contained in this section shall prejudice or affect in any way the continuity of the body corporate constituted under section three of the Principal Act, but the same shall continue notwithstanding the provisions of this section.

(4)

(a) For the purposes only of the appointment of

the additional member of the New South Wales State Cancer Council as reconstituted under this section, and of any matters necessary for or incidental to such appointment or reconsti­ tution the provisions of subsection five of this section shall commence upon the day upon which the assent of Her Majesty to this Act is signified.

(b)

The person so appointed shall assume his

office as member of the New South Wales State Cancer Council upon the appointed day, and on that day the provisions of subsection five of this section shall come into force for all purposes.

(5) The Principal Act is amended—
