REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVIGATION ACT 1912-1965.*

I, THE ADMINISTRATOR of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Navigation Act 1912-1965.

Amendments of the Navigation (Passengers) Regulations. 

1. Regulation 2 of the Navigation (Passengers) Regulations is repealed and the following regulation inserted in its stead:—

Application.

“2. These Regulations apply to—

(a) passenger steamships registered in Australia other than river and bay ships;

(b) passenger steamships engaged in the coasting trade; or

(c) passenger steamships regularly employed in trading to and from ports in Australia and owned by a person, firm or company resident, or having his or its principal place of business, in Australia.”.

Definitions.

2. Regulation 3 of the Navigation (Passengers) Regulations is amended by adding at the end thereof the following definition:—

“ ‘the Act’ means the Navigation Act 1912-1965.”.

Medical and surgical stores.

3. Regulation 5 of the Navigation (Passengers) Regulations is repealed.

Medical staff.

4. Regulation 6 of the Navigation (Passengers) Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (1.).

Isolation Hospital.

5. Regulation 7 of the Navigation (Passengers) Regulations is repealed.

Ports where passengers who are disorderly, &c, may be put ashore.

6. Regulation 10 of the Navigation (Passengers) Regulations is amended by omitting the word “Navigation”.

Repeal.

7. Regulations 11 and 12 of, and the Schedule to, the Navigation (Passengers) Regulations are repealed.
