Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Navigation Act 1912.

Certificate of service as a seaman

1. Regulation 26 of the Navigation (Master and Seamen) Regulations is repealed and the following regulation substituted:

"26. (1) A person who has served at sea may apply to a Superintendent for the issue of a certificate in accordance with Form 14 in relation to that service.

"(2) The fee in respect of the issue of a certificate is:

(a) if one or 2 agreements are referred to in the certificate—$15 in respect of each agreement; or

(b) if more than 2 agreements are referred to in the certificate:

(i) where the certificate relates to service during a calendar period of less than 5 years—$35; or

(ii) where the certificate relates to service during a calendar period or calendar periods of 5 years or more—$35 for each such period of 5 years to which the certificate relates and $35 for each additional part of such a period.

"(3) Where:

(a) application has been made to the Superintendent in accordance with this regulation; and

(b) the fee specified in subregulation (2) has been paid;

a person authorised by the Minister for the purposes of this regulation is to issue the certificate.".

Amendment of heading

2. The Navigation (Master and Seamen) Regulations are further amended as set out in the Schedule.

AMENDMENT OF HEADING

Regulation 8A:

Omit from the heading "Maximum", substitute "Minimum".
