STATUTORY RULES.
REGULATION UNDER THE NAVIGATION ACT 1912-1926.
I,
THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the
advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations
under the

Amendment of Navigation (Master and Seamen) Regulations.
(Statutory Rules 1924 No. 199, as amended by Statutory Rules 1925 No. 87.)
“(2a.) In the case of steamships burning oil fuel, entries shall also be made in the engine-room log-book in regard to each fresh supply of oil fuel received on board, as follows:—
(
a ) The quantity taken on board, and the place and date of receipt;(
b ) the name of the supplier;(
c ) flash point, closed test (as stated in writing by supplier) and type of instrument used for the test;(
d ) number of samples (half-pint)—(i) taken by the Chief Engineer;
(ii) used in tests by the Chief Engineer;
(iii) supplied to other persons, and to whom;
(iv) retained by Chief Engineer;
(
e ) flash point (closed test) as determined by Chief Engineer; and type of instrument used; and(
f ) date when last of each supply of oil was used or when fire risk from that oil ceased.”
“(25a.) All precautions for the prevention of fire or explosion required by the Board of Trade of the United Kingdom to be observed on steamships coming under the jurisdiction of the Board and burning oil fuel, shall be deemed to be precaution described by these Regulations to be observed on oil-burning steamships to which these Regulations apply, and any failure to observe any such precaution shall be a breach of these Regulations.
Penalty, on the Master (if in fault), or on the Chief Engineer (if in fault): Ten pounds.”
