REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVIGATION ACT 1912-1925.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following regulations under the Navigation Act 1912-1925, to come into operation forthwith.

Amendment of Navigation (Manning and Accommodation) Regulations.

Statutory Rules 1923, No. 66, as amended by Statutory Rules 1923, No. 102, Statutory Rules 1924, Nos. 1 and 125, and Statutory Rules 1925, No. 14.)

1. Regulation 4 of the Navigation (Manning and Accommodation) Regulations is amended—

Engine-room officers to be carried by certain ships.

(a) by omitting from the table therein the item “Dilga/Newcastle/ 5” and inserting in its stead the item “(a) Dilga/Newcastle/ 4”.

(b) by omitting from that table the item “Dundula/Sydney/5” and inserting in its stead the item “(a) Dundula/Sydney/ 4”.

(c) by adding at the end of that table the item “(d) William McArthur/ Aberdeen/3”; and

(d) by inserting after Note (c) to that table the following note:—

“(d) While trading on the Australian coast”.

2. Regulation 9 of the Navigation (Manning and Accommodation) Regulations is amended by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulation:—

Deck hands to be carried by certain ships.

“(6) Until otherwise prescribed, the number of seamen to be carried by the undermentioned ships as deck hands shall, in lieu of the number prescribed by Schedule II. to the Act, be as follows:—

3. Regulation 10 of the Navigation (Manning and Accommodation) Regulations is amended by inserting in the table in sub-regulation (2) thereof, after the word “Werribee”, the words “and Hebburn”.

4. Regulation 11 of the Navigation (Manning and Accommodation) Regulations is amended by inserting at the commencement of the table therein the item—

Boiler attendants.

5. Regulation 12 of the Navigation (Manning and Accommodation) Regulations is amended by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulation:–

Greasers to be carried on certain ships.

“(5) Until otherwise prescribed the number of greasers to be carried by the undermentioned ships shall, in lieu of the number prescribed by Schedule II. to the Act, be as follows:—

6. Regulation 13 of the Navigation (Manning and Accommodation) Regulations is amended by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulation—

Firemen and trimmers to be carried on certain ships.

“(7) Until otherwise prescribed the number of firemen and trimmers to be carried by the undermentioned ship shall, in lieu of the number prescribed by Schedule II. to the Act, be as follows:—
