STATUTORY RULES.
REGULATIONS UNDER THE
I, THE
GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the
advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations
under the

Amendments of the Navigation (Life-saving Appliances) Regulations.
(
a )by omitting sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—“(1.) Subject to this regulation, a ship that is a Class I. ship, a Class II. ship or a Class III. ship shall be furnished with portable radiotelegraphy equipment.”; and
(
b ) by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulation:—“(4.) This regulation does not apply to—
(
a )a ship that is furnished with two Class A motor lifeboats; or(
b )a limited coast-trade ship with a gross registered tonnage of less than five hundred tons.”.
“(
a )a lifeboat, or lifeboats, of a type, or types, approved by the Minister;(
aa )if the number of persons on board the ship exceeds the number of persons who can be carried in the lifeboat or lifeboats furnished in accordance with the last preceding paragraph—buoyant apparatus of a type, or types, approved by the Minister having a carrying capacity, or an aggregate carrying capacity, sufficient to accommodate the excess;”.
