Navigation (Fees and Allowances of Members of Committees) Regulations.
“Committee” means the Marine Council, a Committee of Advice or the Crew Accommodation Committee;
“Committee of Advice” means a Committee of Advice appointed by the Minister under sub-section (3.) of section 424 of the Act;
“the Act” means the
Navigation Act 1912-1956;“the Crew Accommodation Committee” means the Crew Accommodation Committee appointed by the Minister under section 138 of the Act;
“the Marine Council” means the Marine Council appointed by the Minister under sub-section (1.) of section 424 of the Act.
(
a )for each day or part of a day on which he attends a meeting or meetings of that Committee—a fee of Eight pounds eight shillings; and

b )if he attends, whether as Chairman or a member, at a meeting or meetings, held on the same day, of a Committee (other than the first-mentioned Committee)—an additional fee of Four pounds four shillings.
(
a ) for each day or part of a day on which he attends a meeting or meetings of that Committee—a fee of Seven pounds seven shillings; and(
b )if he attends, as a member or deputy of a member, at a meeting or meetings, held on the same day, of a Committee (other than the first-mentioned Committee)—an additional fee Three pounds three shillings.
(2.) A member or a deputy of a member of a Committee who presides at a meeting of a Committee during the absence of the Chairman of the Committee is entitled to receive payment of fees in accordance with regulation 4 of these Regulations.
(
a ) he is entitled, for the purpose of attending the meeting or meetings, to travel first-class by rail or air, at the cost of the Commonwealth, from the city or town where he resides to the city or town where the meeting is, or the meetings are, held and, on the completion of the meeting or meetings, from the city or town where the meeting was, or the meetings were, held to the city or town where he resides; or(
b )if he does not travel by rail or air, he is entitled to receive the amount of the first-class rail or air fare, whichever is the less.

(
a )the fees payable to the Chairman of a Committee, or a member or the deputy of a member of a Committee, in respect of a meeting or meetings of a Committee or Committees held after the thirtieth day of June, 1957, and before the date of commencement of these Regulations, shall be as prescribed by regulations 4 and 5 of these Regulations, as the case requires; and(
b )the rates of travelling allowance and meal allowances payable to the Chairman of a Committee or a member or the deputy of a member of a Committee, in respect of a meeting or meetings of a Committee or Committees held after the thirteenth day of November, 1956, and before the date of commencement of these Regulations, shall be as prescribed by Regulations 6 and 8 of these Regulations, respectively.
