1. This Act may he (“ited as the Navigation (Amendment) Act, short title.

2 . Notwithstanding any of the provisions of the Navigation Classification of

(Amendment) Act, 1899, all steanishi])s certified to carry passengers

of Schedule Two of the said Act, and all steamships certified to carry passengers be}mnd the limits aforesaid shall also, except as hereinafter mentioned, be classed in Division (B) Class I instead of Division (D) Class 2 of the said Schedule:

Provided, however, that all steamships certified to carry passen- /ers beyond the limits aforesaid shall, during the display of such signals -IS may be ])rovided for by rules to be made hereunder, be deemed to be classed in Division (D) Chass 2 of the said Schedule, and to be subject to the conditions therein contained.

For the pur])ose of calculating buoyant apparatus to be carried upon steamships carrying passengers within the limits of Sydney Harbour, the word “ sixteen ” is substituted for the words ‘‘ thirty- two ” in General Rule 8 of the said Schedule. General Rule 12 of the said Schedule shall not apply to such steamships.
