REGULATION UNDER THE NAVIGATION ACT 1912-1942.*

I, THE DEPUTY OF THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulation under the Navigation Act 1912-1942.

Amendment of the Navigation (Additional Life-saving Appliances) Regulations.

Life-saving waistcoats.

Regulation 14 of the Navigation (Additional Life-saving Appliances) Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulations (2.) and (3.) and inserting in their stead the following sub-regulation:—

“(2.) On and after 1st June, 1943, each member of the crew of a ship to which these Regulations apply shall be provided with an approved life-saving waistcoat suitable for wearing on the body whilst on or off duty about the ship. The life-saving waistcoat shall be in addition to the lifejacket required to be provided for each person on board the ship in pursuance of the Navigation (Life-saving Appliances) Regulations.”.
