NAVIGATION ACT 1901—REGULATION

(Relating to the repeal of the Port of Sydney Regulations)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Navigation Act 1901, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement

1. This Regulation commences on 1 September 1991.

Amendment

2. The Navigation (Collision) Regulations 1983 are amended by

inserting after Regulation 8 the following Regulation:

Hydrofoil and catamaran ferries may exhibit certain lights

9. A hydrofoil ferry or hlgh speed catamaran ferry may, with the written consent of the Board, exhibit an all-round flashing yellow light (within the meaning of Rule 21 of Schedule 1) while it is operating as a ferry and not otherwise.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to insert in the Navigation (Collision) Regulations 1983 a provision of the Port of Sydney Regulations following the repeal of those Regulations. The provision to be inserted relates to the lights to be exhibited on hydrofoil and high speed catamaran ferries.

This Regulation is made as a result of a review of the Port of Sydney

Regulations by the Maritime Services Board.
