REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVAL DEFENCE ACT 1910-1934.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Naval Defence Act 1910-1934.

Amendments of the Naval Reserve Regulations. 

Enrolment of men.

1. Regulation 29 of the Naval Reserve Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (2.) the word “eighteen” and inserting in its stead the words “sixteen and one-half”; and

(b) by omitting from paragraph (b)of sub-regulation (2.) the words “of pure” and inserting in their stead the words “substantially of”.

Rating on entry.

2. Regulation 30 of the Naval Reserve Regulations is amended by omitting paragraph (d) of sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following paragraph:—

3. After regulation 32 of the Naval Reserve Regulations, the following regulation is inserted:—

Advancement, &c., of ratings in war-time.

“32a. Notwithstanding anything contained in regulations 31 and 32 of these Regulations, the advancement, disrating or reversion of ratings shall, in time of war or emergency, be made in accordance with the regulations for the time being in force for the advancement, disrating or reversion of ratings of the Permanent Naval Forces (Sea-going)”.

Commencement.

4.—(1.) Regulations 1 and 2 of these Regulations shall be deemed to have come into operation as on and from the first day of October, 1940.

(2.) Regulation 3 of these Regulations shall be deemed to have come into operation as on and from the first day of December 1940.
