REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVAL DEFENCE
ACT 1910-1934.*

THE Deputy of the GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia,
acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the
following Regulations under the Naval Defence
Act 1910-1934.

1. Regulation 137,
sub-regulation (1.) of the Naval Reserve Regulations is amended by omitting the
scale of rates of pay and inserting in its stead the following scale:—

After regulation 137 of the Naval Reserve Regulations, the following new
regulation is inserted:—
Efficiency
allowance.
“137a.—(1.)
In addition to the rates of pay prescribed in sub-regulation (1.) of regulation
137, a member of the rating or relative rating of Able Seaman or Ordinary
Seaman may be paid an efficiency allowance at the rate of Three shillings per
whole day for which pay is issuable for drills or continuous training. Payment
of efficiency allowance shall be subject to the following conditions:—
(a) In respect of drills—that the member
shall have performed in the half year drills of at least the equivalent in
hours of the number of days home training ordered for that half year.
(b) In respect of continuous
training—that the number of days continuous training ordered from time to time
shall have been performed by the member, provided that where leave of absence
has been granted to the member for an approved reason, efficiency allowance may
be paid for the actual number of days attended.
(2.) Efficiency allowance shall be
regarded as pay for the calculation of pay or allowances, under regulations
138, 139, 140 and 142.”
Pay
for prescribed period.
3. Regulation 138 of the Naval
Reserve Regulations is amended as follows:—
(a) by omitting sub-regulation (2.);
(b) by re-numbering sub-regulations (3.)
and (4.) to read (2.) and (3.) respectively.
