STATUTORY RULES.

1948. No. 37.

REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVAL DEFENCE ACT 1910-1934.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Naval Defence Act 1910-1934.

Amendments of the Naval Forces Regulations. 

Australia Naval Station.

1. Regulation 23 of the Naval Forces Regulations is amended by omitting all the words after the words “the Naval Board:—” and inserting in their stead the following words:—

East.—Froma point on the Equator in 169° East Longitude, along that meridian to the Southward to 1° South Latitude, thence along that parallel to the Eastward to the meridian of 170° East Longitude, thence along that meridian to the Southward to 30° South Latitude, thence in a southerly direction to a point on 45° South Latitude and 160° East Longitude, and thence along that meridian to the South Pole.

South.— The South Pole.

West.—From the South Pole by the meridian of 80° East Longitude to the Northward to 30° South Latitude, thence along that parallel to the Eastward to the meridian of 96° 15’ East Longitude, and thence along that meridian to the Northward to 13° South Latitude.

North.—From a point in 96° 15’ East Longitude and 13° South Latitude in an Easterly direction to a point in 10° South Latitude and 115° 50’ Longitude, thence along that meridian to the Northward to 7° 45’ South Latitude thence in a Northerly direction to a point in 2° North Latitude and 120° East Longitude, thence along that meridian

to the Northward to 4° 15’ North Latitude, thence in an Easterly direction to a point in 5° North Latitude and 127° East Longitude, thence in an Easterly direction to a point on the Equator 134° East Longitude, and thence along that parallel to the Eastward to the meridian of 169° East Longitude.”.

Retiring ages for sea-going Forces.

2. Regulation 102 of the Naval Forces Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (3.) all the words from and including the word “Commander” to the end of the sub-regulation and inserting in their stead the following words:—

“Surgeon Captain (D)..................................................................... 57

Surgeon Commander (D).............................................................. 55

Surgeon Lieutenant-Command or (D)............................................ 50.”; and

(b) byinserting, after that sub-regulation, the following sub-regulation:—

“(3a.) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-regulation (2.) or sub-regulation (3.) of this regulation, a Surgeon Lieutenant-Commander or a Surgeon Lieutenant-Commander (D) of the Permanent Naval Forces (Sea-going) appointed, on or after the first day of July, 1947, shall be retired from the Active List on attaining the age of 48 years.”.
