STATUTORY RULES.
REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVAL DEFENCE ACT 1910-1934.*
I
THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the
advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following regulations
under the

Amendments of the Naval Forces Regulations.
“57.—(1) The Instructor Branch shall consist of two grades—
(
a ) Instructor Officers ( ).(
b ) Instructor Officers.“(2) To qualify as an officer of the Instructor Branch an applicant shall—
(
a ) be not less than 21 years of age;(
b )be of pure European descent and the son of natural-born or naturalized British subjects;(
c ) not labour under any mental or constitutional disease or weakness, or any other imperfection or disability which may interfere with the most efficient discharge of the duties of an Instructor Officer in any climate;(
d ) be ready to engage for general service at home or abroad as required.
Provided that the Minister may reject the application of any candidate who is the son of a naturalized British subject.

“(3) To qualify for appointment as Instructor Officer ( ) an applicant shall hold a Science or Arts Degree of a recognized University in His Majesty’s dominions and have passed in Mathematics or Physics at Final Year standard for the course for either of those Degrees.
“(4) To qualify for appointment as Instructor Officer an applicant shall either—
(
a ) hold a degree of a recognized University in His Majesty’s dominions and have passed in Mathematics or Physics at first year standard; or(
b )have successfully completed the training course at a recognized teachers’ training college in His Majesty’s dominions and hold a matriculation certificate, or its equivalent, with passes in Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry.”.
