STATUTORY RULES.
REGULATION UNDER THE NAVAL DEFENCE ACT 1910-1918.
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the
Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive
Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the

Amendment of Naval Forces Regulations.
(Statutory Rules, 1926, No. 196.)
(
66a. Promotion to the rank of Surgeon Captain will be made by selection from Officers of the rank of Surgeon Commander who, in the opinion of the Naval Board, have proved themselves fitted for the higher rank by both professional and administrative ability.
(
a ) by omitting the words “Surgeon Lieutenant-Commander” from the eighth line; and(
b ) by adding the words “and Surgeon Lieutenant-Commander” after the words “Engineer Commander”.
(
a ) by inserting after the words “Warrant Officer” in sub-regulation (1) the words “including Sub-Inspector of the Naval Dockyard, Police”; and(
b ) by adding at the end of sub-regulation (2) the words “except that the age for retirement of Sub-Inspectors of the Naval Dockyard Police appointed to the Auxiliary Services on or after the date aforementioned shall be 55 years.”
(
a ) by inserting at the beginning of the regulation the following words “Except where regulations have been made under the Naval Defence Act applicable to the same subject”;(
b ) by omitting the words and figures “Chapters XVII., XVIII., and Sections II., III., IV., and V. of Chapters XIX., XXV., and. Appendices XX. and XXII. of the King’s Regulations and Admiralty Instructions (1913 edition)”, and inserting in. their stead the words and figures “Chapters IX., X., XI., XII., and XXXV., and Appendices XXIV. and XXVI. of the King’s Regulations and Admiralty Instructions (1926 edition)”;(
c ) by omitting paragraph (a ) and inserting in its stead the following new paragraph:—“(
a ) The following articles and clauses shall not apply—Article 540, Table II., Punishments 15, 18, 19, 20 and 21.
Articles 581, 584, and 585”; and
(
d ) by omitting from paragraph (b ) the figures “757” and inserting in their stead the figures “540”.
