REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVAL DEFENCE ACT 1910-1973.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Naval Defence Act 1910-1973.

Amendments of the Naval Forces (Papua New Guinea Division)

Regulations 

Pay.

1. Regulation 8 of the Naval Forces (Papua New Guinea Division) Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting the table in sub-regulation (1c) and substituting the following table:—

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (3e) the words “ One dollar thirty-seven cents ” and substituting the figures “ $2.33 ”; and

(c) by omitting sub-regulation (3f) and substituting the following sub-regulation:—

“ (3f) Subject to the succeeding sub-regulations of this regulation, the rate of pay of a sailor who holds the rank of ordinary seaman or apprentice is—

(a) in the case of a sailor who has less than 1 year’s pay seniority—

(i) if he has not attained the age of 20 years and is unmarried—$2.44 per day;

(ii) if he has attained the age of 20 years but has not attained the age of 21 years and is unmarried—$2.60 per day; or

(iii) in any other case—$2.69 per day;

(b) in the case of a sailor who has not less than 1 year’s pay seniority but less than 2 years’ pay seniority—

(i) if he has not attained the age of 21 years and is unmarried—$2.60 per day; or

(ii) in any other case—$2.69 per day; and

(c) in the case of a sailor who has not less than 2 years’ pay seniority—$2.69 per day.”.

Second and Third Schedules.

2. The Second and Third Schedules to the Naval Forces (Papua New Guinea Division) Regulations are repealed and the following Schedules substituted:—
