REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVAL DEFENCE ACT 1910-1971.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Naval Defence Act 1910-1971.

Amendments of the Naval Forces (Papua and New Guinea Division) Regulations

Short title.

1. Regulation 1 of the Naval Forces (Papua and New Guinea Division) Regulations is amended by omitting the word “ and ”.

Pay.

2. Regulation 8 of the Naval Forces (Papua and New Guinea Division) Regulations is amended by omitting the table in sub-regulation (1c) and substituting the following table:—

4. Regulation 21 of the Naval Forces (Papua and New Guinea Division) Regulations is amended—

the member shall be paid at that higher rate in respect of that service.

(2) A member who holds the rank of apprentice shall, in respect of any service in that rank during the period commencing on 1 January 1972 and ending on 25 January 1973, be paid an amount of Forty-two cents per day as additional pay in respect of that service.

(3) In sub-regulation (1) “ the prescribed period ” means a period commencing on a date two years before the date of commencement of these Regulations and ending on 1 January 1972.

Applications.

8. (1) The rates of pay provided for in sub-regulation (1c) of regulation 8 of the Naval Forces (Papua and New Guinea Division) Regulations as amended by these Regulations apply to and in relation to service in the Naval Forces on or after 23 November 1972.

(2) The rates of mileage allowance provided for in the Naval Forces (Papua and New Guinea Division) Regulations as amended by these Regulations apply to and in relation to travel by a member on or after 10 February 1972.

(3) The rates of pay provided for in the Naval Forces (Papua and New Guinea Division) Regulations as amended by regulation 5 apply to and in relation to service in the Naval Forces on or after 5 July 1973.
