PROVISIONAL REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACTS 1903-1904.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby certify that on account of urgency the following Regulations under the Defence Acts 1903-1904 should come into immediate operation, and make the Regulations to come into operation forthwith as Provisional Regulations.

REGULATIONS FOR THE NAVAL FORCES OF THE COMMONWEALTH.

Part II.—Permanent Naval Forces.

Section III.—Retirements and Resignations.

Regulation 55 is amended to read as follows;—

“Officers.

55. Officers shall be retired at the ages set forth below, but the Governor-General may, nevertheless, on the recommendation of the Board, require any officer who would otherwise so retire, notwithstanding his age, to continue to perform his duty for a period not exceeding two years:—

Lieutenant.......................................................	52
Engineer Officer..............................................	57
Paymaster........................................................	60
Warrant Officer................................................	57.”

Regulation 64 is amended as follows:—

For—
“Chief Petty Officers and Petty Officers...................................	55 years.
All other ratings......................................................................	50 years.”
Read—
“Chief Petty Officers and Petty Officers...................................	57 years.
All other ratings......................................................................	52 years.
