Officers’ General List— active pay.
1. Regulation 9 of the
Naval Financial Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (1.) and
inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—
“(1.)
Subject to this regulation and to regulation 15 of these Regulations, the daily
rate of active pay payable to—
(a)an officer of the
General List;
(b)an officer of the
Special Duties List;
(c) an
officer of the Supplementary List;
(d)an officer of the
Instructor Branch;
(e) an officer of the
Naval Ordnance Design and Inspection Branch; or
(f) an
officer of the Naval Dockyard Police,
is the rate specified, in relation to his rank
and pay seniority, in the Third Schedule to these Regulations.”.
2. Regulation 10 of the
Naval Financial Regulations is repealed and the following regulation inserted
in its stead:—
Medical and dental officers— active pay.
10.—(1.) Subject to the
next succeeding sub-regulation and to regulation 15 of these Regulations, the
daily rate of active pay payable to an officer of the Medical Branch or the
Dental Branch is the rate specified in relation to his rank and pay seniority in
the Fourth Schedule to these Regulations.
(c) Made under the Naval Defence Act 1910–1965 on 10 June, 1965;
notified in the Commonwealth Gazette on 18 June, 1965.
“(2.) The daily rate of active pay payable to
an officer of the Medical Branch or the Denial Branch who is a Surgeon
Lieutenant and holds a position as a resident medical officer at a hospital is
Five pounds three shillings and ninepence.”.

3. Regulation 11 of the
Naval Financial Regulations is repealed.

5. Regulation 13 of the
Naval Financial Regulations is amended by omitting the words “Three shillings”
and inserting in their stead the words “Three shillings and ninepence”.
6. Regulation 251 of the
Naval Financial Regulations is repealed and the following regulation inserted
in its stead:—
Officers’ rate of active pay.
“251. The
daily rate of active pay of an officer of the Women’s Royal Australian Naval
Service or of the Royal Australian Naval Nursing Service
is the rate specified, in relation
to the rank and pay seniority that she holds, in the following table:—

7. Regulation 253a of the Naval Financial Regulations
is repealed.
Active pay— general provisions.
8. Regulation 264 of the
Naval Financial Regulations is amended by inserting in sub-regulation (2.),
after the word “Third,”, the word “Fourth,”.
Active pay— general provisions.
9. Regulation 267 of the
Naval Financial Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (2.) the
words “held by the member or the rating held by the member and the branch in
which he is included, as the case requires” and inserting in their stead the
words “or rating held by the member and the branch in which he is included”.
Active pay— officers.
10. Regulation 272 of the
Naval Financial Regulations is amended by adding at the end of sub-regulation
(1.) the words “and the branch in which he is included”.
Special allowance for medical officers and dental
officers.
11. Regulation 297 of the
Naval Financial Regulations is repealed.

12. The Naval Financial
Regulations are amended by inserting after the Third Schedule the following

Eighteenth Schedule.
14. The Eighteenth
Schedule to the Naval Financial Regulations is amended by omitting from Part I.
the words—
“Medical
and Dental Officers—Special Allowance”.
Application— Permanent Naval Forces.
15.—(1.) The rates of
active pay specified in regulation 12 of the Naval Financial Regulations as
amended by regulation 4 of these Regulations apply in relation to service as a
Chaplain of the Permanent Naval Forces on and after the twenty-sixth day of June,
1964.
(2.)
Senior Chaplain’s allowance is payable at the rate specified in regulation 13
of the Naval Financial Regulations as amended by regulation 5 of these
Regulations in respect of service in the Permanent Naval Forces as a Senior
Chaplain with less than twenty-four years’ pay seniority on and after the
twenty-sixth day of June, 1964.
(3.) The
rate of active pay that would, but for this sub-regulation, be the rate of
active pay for an officer of the Medical Branch or the Dental Branch of the
Permanent Naval Forces, other than an officer of the rank of Surgeon Lieutenant
holding the position of resident medical officer at a hospital, in respect of
service on a day in the period from and including the twenty-sixth day of June,
1964, to and including the day immediately before the commencement of this
regulation is increased by the amount by which the sum of the active pay of the
officer in respect of that day and the allowance payable in respect of that day
by virtue of regulation 11 of the Naval Financial Regulations as in force on
that day is less than the active pay would have been if the amendments effected
by these Regulations had been in force on that day.
(4.) The
rate of active pay of an officer referred to in the last preceding
sub-regulation in respect of a day in the period from and including the
twenty-first day of April, 1964, to and including the twenty-fifth day of June,
1964, is increased to the rate that would be the rate of active pay of that
officer in respect of that day if it were a day in the period referred to in
the last preceding sub-regulation, less an amount of Three shillings and
fourpence.
(5.) The
rates of active pay specified in regulation 251 of the Naval Financial
Regulations as amended by regulation 6 of these Regulations apply in respect
of—
(a)service
as an officer of the Women’s Royal Australian Naval Service on and after the
twenty-sixth day of June, 1964; and
(b)service
as an officer of the Royal Australian Naval Nursing Service on and after the
thirtieth day of October, 1964.
Application— Citizen Naval Forces.
16.—(1.) The rate of
active pay specified in Table 2 in the Seventeenth Schedule to the Naval
Financial Regulations as amended by regulation 13 of these Regulations applies
in relation to—
(a)continuous
full time naval service to which regulation 267 of the Naval Financial
Regulations applies; or
(b)naval service to which regulation
272 of those Regulations applies,
as a Chaplain of the
Citizen Naval Forces on and after the first day of July, 1964.
(2.) The
rate of active pay that would, but for this sub-regulation, be the rate of
active pay for an officer of the Medical Branch or the Dental Branch of the
Citizen Naval Forces in respect of service on a day in the period from and
including the first day of July, 1964, to and including the day immediately
before the commencement of this regulation is increased by the amount by which
the sum of the active pay of the officer in respect of that day and the
allowance payable in respect of that day by virtue of—
(a) regulation 21a of the Naval Financial (Citizen
Forces) Regulations; or
(b)regulation 297 of the
Naval Financial Regulations,
whichever is applicable to service on that
day, is less than the active pay would have been if the amendments effected by
these Regulations had been in force on that day and the Naval Financial
(Citizen Forces) Regulations had not been in force on that day.
