REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVAL DEFENCE ACT 1910-1971.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Naval Defence Act 1910-1971.

Amendments of the Naval Financial Regulations

Medical and Dental Officers—active pay.

1. Regulation 10 of the Naval Financial Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (2.) the words “Sixteen dollars sixty-six cents” and inserting in their stead the words “Sixteen dollars ninety-four cents”.

Chaplains—active pay.

2. Regulation 12 of the Naval Financial Regulations is amended by omitting the table and inserting in its stead the following table:—

3.—(1.) Regulation 15 of the Naval Financial Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the words “Eighteen thousand eight hundred and ninety-one dollars ” and inserting in their stead the words “ Eighteen thousand nine hundred and ninety-five dollars ”; and

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (2.) the words “Fifteen thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine dollars ” and inserting in their stead the words “ Fifteen thousand nine hundred and eighty-three dollars ”.

(2.) Regulation 15 of the Nava! Financial Regulations is amended by omitting the table in sub-regulation (3.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—

(b) by inserting after sub-regulation (2.) the following sub-regulation:—

“(2a.) The daily rate of active pay of a man who holds the rating of Junior Recruit or Junior Musician is the rats specified in the Sixth Schedule of these Regulations in relation to his age.”.

Rate of travelling allowance within Australia.

9.—(1.) Regulation 201 of the Naval Financial Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (2.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—

“(2.) The rate at which travelling allowance is payable to a member holding the position of Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee, or Chief of Naval Staff in respect of travel within Australia is Thirty-four dollars per day.”.

(2.) The rate specified in sub-regulation (2.) of regulation 201 of the Naval Financial Regulations as amended by the last preceding sub-regulation applies in relation to travel, on the seventeenth day of May, 1972, or any subsequent day, by a member holding a position specified in that sub-regulation.

10. Regulation 253 of the Naval Financial Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (2.) the words “Six dollars forty-six cents” and inserting in their stead the words “Six dollars seventy-five cents”.

The rales of active pay provided for in the Naval Financial Regulations as amended by these Regulations apply in respect of service in the Permanent Naval Forces, the Naval Emergency Reserve Forces or the Citizen Naval Forces, as the case requires, on and after the nineteenth day of May, 1972.
