1925. No. 222.

REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVAL DEFENCE ACT 1910-1918.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations, under the Naval Defence Act 1910-1918, to come into operation forthwith, unless otherwise specified herein.

Amendment of Naval Financial Regulations.

(Statutory Rules 1924, No. 34, as amended to present date.)

(Tenth Amendment.)

1. Regulation 23 is amended as follows:—

1. by omitting the words “and Printer” after the words “Ship’s Cook” in the margin, and also after the words “P.O. Cook”; and

2. by inserting at the end thereof the following:—

2. Regulation 33, sub-regulation (1), is amended, as from 1st April, 1925, as follows:—

1. by omitting the words “Executive Engineer and Accountant Officers”, and inserting in lieu thereof the words “Executive and Engineer Officers”; and

2. by adding at the end thereof the words and figures—

“Paymaster Midshipman, on promotion ............ £16

Paymaster Sub-Lieutenant, on confirmation.... 34.”

3. Regulation 37, sub-regulation (1), is amended, as from 1st October, 1925, by omitting the rates “1s., 10d., and 1s.” for Classes I., II., and III. respectively, and inserting in their stead the rates “11d., 9d., and 11d.” respectively.

4. Regulation 38, sub-regulation (1), sub-clause (d), is amended by omitting the amount “£14”, and inserting in its stead the amount “£12”.

5. Regulation 52 is amended as follows:—

1. by omitting from sub-regulation (32), as from 1st September, 1925, the rate “4d. per diem” and inserting in its stead the rate “6d. per diem”.

2. by omitting, as from 1st July, 1925, sub-regulation (50) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—

6. Regulation 69 is amended by omitting sub-regulations (3) and (4).

7. Regulation 78b is amended as from 31st December, 1920, as follows:—

1. by omitting from sub-regulation (1) all the words after the words in parenthesis and inserting in their stead the words “provided that no member who retired prior to 5th December, 1924, shall be eligible for any payment under this regulation unless he has completed ten years’ continuous service immediately prior to retirement. For the purpose of this regulation ‘service’ shall mean continuous service in a position of a permanent nature under a State or the Commonwealth.”; and

2. by omitting sub-regulation (6) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—

“(6) A member who retired under the Defence Retirement Act 1922, or a person who has been granted any pension or superannuation allowance under the laws of a State or under the terms of the Superannuation Act 1924 shall not be eligible to receive any payment under this regulation.”

8. Regulation 164, sub-regulation (1), is amended by omitting from paragraphs (i) and (iv) the amount “£2”, and inserting in its stead in each of these paragraphs the amount “£5”.
