REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVAL DEFENCE ACT 1910-1918.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Naval Defence Act 1910-1918, to come into operation forthwith, unless otherwise specified herein.

Amendment of Naval Financial Regulations.

(Statutory Rules 1924, No. 34)

1. Wherever appearing throughout these Regulations, the words “Chief Writer”, “First Writer”, “Second Writer”, and “Third Writer” are omitted as from 4th March, 1924, and the following words are, respectively, inserted in their stead:— “Chief Petty Officer Writer”, “Petty Officer Writer”, “Leading Writer” and “Writer”.

2. Regulation 50, sub-regulation (9) is amended as from 1st June, 1924, by omitting all the words after the word “duties” in the fourth line and inserting the words “or abroad” after the words “within the Tropics” in the table of rates.

3. Regulation 52 is repealed as from 1st July, 1924, and the following regulation is inserted in its stead:—

“Non-substantive Ratings and Allowances.

“52. (1) The rates of allowances to Petty Officers and men shall be as prescribed in the following sub-regulations, and the conditions governing payment of such allowances shall be as laid down by the Naval Board from time to time.

(2) When the continuance of an allowance is dependent upon re-qualification and there has been no opportunity to requalify, the Naval Board shall decide whether payment of such allowance is to continue.
