REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVAL DEFENCE ACT 1910-1934.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations, under the Naval Defence Act 1910-1934.

Amendment of Naval Financial Regulations. 

Application of Financial Emergency Act.

1. The fees or allowances prescribed by the Naval Financial Regulations as amended by these Regulations shall be subject to adjustment by or under the Financial Emergency Act 1931-1935 in the same manner as they would have been so subject had those Regulations as so amended been in force on the twenty-seventh day of October, 1933.

2. Regulation 21, sub-regulation (5), of the Naval Financial Regulations is amended—

(a)by inserting, after the words “Gunner (T)”, the words Commissioned Gunner (T)”;

(b)by omitting the words “Warrant Instructor in Cookery, Commissioned Instructor in Cookery” and inserting in their stead the words “Warrant Cook, Commissioned Cook, Warrant Steward, Commissioned Steward”.

Rates of pay—Petty Officers and Men (Sea-going).

3. Regulation 23 of the Naval Financial Regulations is repealed and the following regulation is inserted in its stead:—

23. (1) The following daily rates of Active Pay, the rates of allowances specified in regulations 33 to 50, and the rates of Deferred Pay specified in regulation 52, shall apply, where not otherwise stated,

(2) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-regulation (1) of this regulation the following shall be the rates of Active Pay of Ordinary Seaman, 2nd Class (17 years of age or over), Ordinary Seaman and all ratings in other branches, as set out hereunder, of equivalent rating to those ratings, who were serving in the Royal Australian Navy on the 31st day of August, 1935:—

(3) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on the twenty-seventh day of September, 1935.

Age limit for marriage allowance.

4. Regulation 41 of the Naval Financial Regulations is amended by inserting after sub-regulation (5) the following new sub-regulation:—

“(6) Notwithstanding anything contained in this regulation a member who enters or re-enters the Royal Australian Navy on or after the twenty-seventh day of September, 1935, shall not become eligible for Marriage Allowance until he has attained the age of twenty-three years.”
