REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVAL DEFENCE ACT 1910-1952.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Naval Defence Act 1910-1952.

1. Regulation 36 of the Naval Financial Regulations is amended by omitting the table in sub-regulation (2.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—

4. Regulation 79a of the Naval Financial Regulations is repealed and the following regulation inserted in its stead:—

Variations of active pay.

“79a.—(1.) The rate of active pay payable under Part II. or Part III. of these Regulations to a member (other than a member entitled to payment of active pay in accordance with regulations 15, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37 or 79 of these Regulations or a Cadet Midshipman) shall be increased by One shilling and sixpence per day.

“(2.) The rate of active pay payable under Part II. of these Regulations to a Cadet Midshipman shall be increased by Elevenpence per day.”.

Servicewomen—rate of active pay.

5. Regulation 252 of the Naval Financial Regulations is amended—

(a)by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the words “Nineteen Shillings” and inserting in their stead, the words “One pound”;

(b)by omitting from sub-regulation (2.) the words “Three shillings” and inserting in their stead the words “Four shillings”; and

(c) by omitting the Table in sub-regulation (3.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—

6. Regulation 252a of the Naval Financial Regulations is repealed and the following regulation inserted in its stead:—

Variation of active pay.

“252a. The daily rate of active pay payable to an officer of the Women’s Service under regulation 251 of these Regulations shall be increased by One shilling.”.

Application.

8.—(1.) This regulation applies in a case where a member has received or is entitled to receive active pay in accordance with regulation 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36 or 37, or sub-regulation (3.) of regulation 252, of the Naval

Financial Regulations in respect of a day in the period from and including the third day of May, 1963, to and including the day immediately preceding the commencement of these Regulations.

(2.) The rate of active pay applicable under the Naval Financial Regulations during the period referred to in the last preceding sub-regulation shall, in a case to which this regulation applies, be increased by an amount equal to the amount by which that rate is less than the rate of active pay that would have been applicable if the amendments made by these Regulations had taken effect on the third day of May, 1963.
