UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903-1939 AND THE NAVAL DEFENCE ACT 1910-1934.*
I,
THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the
advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations
under the Defence Act 1903-1939 and
the Naval Defence Act 1910-1934.

2. After regulation 34 of
the Naval Financial Regulations the following regulation is inserted:—
Turret
kit allowance.
“34a.
A rating regularly employed in an oil-operated gun turret may, subject to the
approval of the Naval Board, be paid an allowance at a rate not exceeding the
following rates:—

3. Regulation 35 of the
Naval Financial Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1) the
symbols and figures “£15 7 0”, “£13 4 0”, “£12 8 0”, and “£10 8 0” and
inserting in their stead the symbols and figures “£11 13 0”, “£10 15 6”, “£10 4
0” and” £6 17 3”, respectively.
Special
allowances.
4. Regulation 48 of the
Naval Financial Regulations is amended by omitting the words—

5. Regulation 76 of the
Naval Financial Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1) the
figures and letters “1s. 8d.” and inserting in their stead the figures and
letters “1s. 9d”.
Messing
allowance.
6. Regulation 78 of the
Naval Financial Regulations is amended by omitting the figure and letter “9d.”
and inserting in their stead the figures and letter “9½d.”.
Leave
allowance.
7. Regulation 79 of the
Naval Financial Regulations is amended by omitting from the table in
sub-regulation (1) the figures “2 10” and inserting in their stead the figures “3
0”.
Provision
allowance.
8. Regulation
80 of the Naval Financial Regulations is amended by omitting the figures and
letters “2s. 10d.” and inserting in their stead the figures and letters “3s.
0d.”.
Adjustments
of payments on account of victualling, messing, leave and provision allowances.
9. If, in respect of the
period from and including the first day of October, 1940, to the date upon
which these Regulations came into operation, an allowance has been paid or is
payable under regulation 76, 78, 79 or 80 of the Naval Financial Regulations, at
a rate which is less than the rate prescribed by that regulation, as amended by
these Regulations, the officer or man concerned shall be paid an amount equal
to the difference between the rate paid or payable under that regulation and
the rate prescribed by that regulation, as amended by these Regulations.
