REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903-1941 AND THE NAVAL DEFENCE ACT 1910-1934.*

I,THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Act 1903-1941 and the Naval Defence Act 1910-1934.

Amendments of the Naval Financial Regulations. 

Active pay—Petty Officer Wireman, Ordinary Coder, Second Class, and Petty Officer Coder.

1.—(1.) Regulation 23a of the Naval Financial Regulations is amended by inserting in the table—

(a)after the particulars relating to Leading Wireman, the following words and figures:—

“Petty Officer Wireman ………….…………………………11 8”;

(b)before the particulars relating to Ordinary Coder, the following words and figures:—

“Ordinary Coder, Second Class—

Under 17 years of age………….………………………3 3

17 years of age or over………….……………………..3 6”;

(c) after the particulars relating to Leading Coder, the following words and figures:—

“Petty Officer Coder………….……………………………..11 8

After three years’ service as such………….…………12 0

After six years’ service as such………….…………...12 4”.

(2.) A rating who, during the period on and from the thirtieth day of March, 1943, to the date of commencement ofthis regulation, performed the duty of Petty Officer Wireman, may in respect of that duty, be paid at the rate prescribed by regulation 23a of the Naval Financial Regulations, as amended by this regulation.

(3.) A rating who, during the period on and from the sixth day of July, 1943, to the date of commencement of this regulation, performed the duty of Ordinary Coder, Second Class, or Petty Officer Coder, may in respect of that duty, be paid an allowance at the rate prescribed by regulation 23a of the Naval Financial Regulations as amended by this regulation.

Reduction in pay whilst suffering from venereal disease.

2. Regulation 127 of the Naval Financial Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from paragraph (b) of sub-regulation (2.) the word “or”; and

(b)by adding, at the end of that sub-regulation, the following word and paragraph:—

“; or (d)A member who after entry is found to be suffering from congenital syphilis”.
