REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVAL DEFENCE ACT 1910-1952.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Naval Defence Act 1910-1952.

NAVAL FINANCIAL (CITIZEN FORCES) REGULATIONS.

Citation.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Naval Financial (Citizen Forces) Regulations.

Application of Regulations.

2. These Regulations apply notwithstanding anything contained in any other Regulations in force under the Naval Defence Act 1910-1952 making provision for or in relation to the rates of pay of members of the Citizen Naval Forces.

Definitions.

3. In these Regulations, unless the contrary intention appears—

“man” means a male person serving in the Citizen Naval Forces and holding a rating of or below that of Chief Petty Officer;

“officer” includes an officer of the Special Duties List and a subordinate officer;

“rank” includes acting rank and relative rank;

“rating” includes acting rating and relative rating;

“the Naval Board” means the Board of Administration for the Naval Forces called the Naval Board and constituted under section 7 of the Naval Defence Act 1910-1952.

Rates of pay— Officers.

4. The daily rate of active pay payable to an officer of the Citizen Naval Forces is the rate specified in the First Schedule to these Regulations in relation to the rank that the officer holds and the branch or list in which the officer is included.

 

Rates of pay—Men.

5. The daily rate of active pay payable to a man of the Citizen Naval Forces is the rate specified in the Second Schedule to these Regulations in relation to the rating that the man holds and the branch in which the man is included.

 

Members serving in Permanent Naval Forces.

6. Notwithstanding anything contained in these Regulations, a member of the Citizen Naval Forces who is serving in a vacancy in the Establishment of the Permanent Naval Forces shall be paid active pay and allowances at the rates that would be payable under the Naval Financial Regulations if he were a member of the Permanent Naval Forces.
