REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVAL DEFENCE ACT 1910-1918.
I, SIR WILLIAM HILL IRVINE, Deputy of the Governor-General in and
over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal
Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the

Amendment of Naval Establishments Regulations.
(Statutory Rules 1916, No, 243, as amended to present date.)
(1) By omitting sub-regulation (3), and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—
“(3) In addition to the holidays prescribed in sub-regulation (1), the following additional holidays shall be observed, and persons paid on a salaried basis, and hourly-paid office staffs may be granted such additional days as holidays on full pay:—

(2) By omitting sub-regulation (5).
(3) Sub-regulation (6) is re-numbered (5).
2. After regulation 88, as from 1st July, 1918, the following heading and regulation are inserted:—“Pay of Persons employed in Naval Establishments.
89. (1) The rates of pay set forth in the following sub-regulations shall apply to persons employed in H.M.A. Naval Establishments in the respective positions indicated.
All increments provided in the following sub-regulations shall be subject to such conditions as may be prescribed.

Service with the Commonwealth only shall count towards qualifying time for increment purposes.
The Minister may, in exceptional cases, approve of an employee receiving, without the requisite time qualification, one or more increments in any year—
(
a ) for charge of specially skilled or dangerous work in the Ordnance Branch. or,(
b ) for specially responsible work in a branch other than the Ordnance Branch.

(1) Sub-regulation (2) is amended, as from 22nd November, 1918, by omitting the scale of pay for Storehouse Staff, and. inserting in its stead the following:—

(2) By omitting sub-regulation (3), as from 1st July, 1919, and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—

“(4) The following rates of pay and allowances shall apply on and from 1st January, 1919, to all members of Naval Dockyard Police appointed to H.M.A. Naval Establishments:—

On first appointment, uniform as prescribed shall be provided at Government expense or a uniform gratuity in lieu shall be paid as follows:—

Lodging Allowance at the rate of 2s. per diem shall be paid to all members of the Naval Dockyard Police.”
(4) Sub-regulation (4) is amended as from 1st July, 1919:—
(i) By omitting the scale of pay and inserting in its stead new scale as follows:—
