REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVAL DEFENCE ACT 1910-1934.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Naval Defence Act 1910-1934.

Amendments of the Naval Establishments Regulations. 

Rates of pay.

1.Regulation 43 of the Naval Establishments Regulations is amended—

(a) by inserting in the table set out in sub-regulation (1.), after the position of “Armament Artificer, Naval Ordnance Branch, Sydney”, the following position and particulars:—

“Assistant (Adult) | IV. | 296 | 312 | £8 annually”;

(b)by omitting from that table the position of “Chart Corrector (Stocks and Maintenance)” and the particulars shown opposite that position and inserting in their stead the following position and particulars:—

“Chief Draughtsman

(Naval Ordnance) |. . | 558 | 630 | £18 annually”;

(c)by omitting from that table the position of “ Chief Cartographer” and the particulars shown opposite that position;

(d)by omitting from that table the positions of “Electrical Assistant to the Director of Engineering (Naval)”, “Electrical Assistant to the Engineer-Manager” and “Engineer Constructor” and the particulars shown opposite those positions;

(e) by omitting from that table the position of “Hull Overseer” and the particulars shown opposite that position;

(f) by inserting in that table, after the position of “Leading Examiner, Navy Office”, the following positions and particulars:—

Variation of salary on account of cost of living.

2.Regulation 44 of the Naval Establishments Regulations is amended by inserting after sub-regulation (5.) the following sub-regulation:—

“(5a)Notwithstanding anything contained in this regulation:—

(a)the index number for the six months ended the thirtieth day of September, 1946, shall be deemed to be 99.7; and

(b) salaries payable in pursuance of regulation 43 shall be adjusted accordingly as from the commencement of the first pay period beginning in the month of December, 1946, instead of as from the commencement of the first pay period beginning in the month of November, 1946.”.
