REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVAL DEFENCE ACT 1910-1952.*
I, THE
ADMINISTRATOR of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with
the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following
Regulations under the Naval Defence Act 1910-1952.

Amendments of the Naval Establishments
Regulations.
Rates of pay and increments.
1.—(1.) Regulation 43 of the Naval
Establishments Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (1.) and
inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—
"(1.) Subject
to this regulation—
(a) a male officer or
male employee occupying a position the designation of which is specified in
Part I. of the table in this sub-regulation; or
(b)a female
officer
or female employee occupying a position the designation of which is specified
in Part II. of the table in this sub-regulation,
is
entitled to be paid salary at the rate of annual salary, or within the limits
of the rates of annual salary, as the case may be, specified in the table
opposite to that designation.

(2.) Regulation 43 of the Naval
Establishments Regulations is amended by inserting in sub-regulation (2.),
after the word "sub-regulation
(1.)" the words "or sub-regulation (10.), as the case
requires,".
(3.) Regulations 43 of the Naval
Establishments Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (5.) the
words "sub-regulations (6.) and (7.) of this regulation" and
inserting in their stead the words "the next succeeding sub-regulation".
(4.) Regulation 43 of
the Naval Establishments Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulations
(7.) and (8.) and inserting in their stead the following sub-regulations:—
"(7.) Subject to
sub-regulation (10.) of this regulation, where a female officer or female
employee occupies a position the designation of which is specified in Part I.
of the table in sub-regulation (1.) of this regulation, she is entitled to be
paid salary at an annual rate that is One hundred and fifty-four pounds less
than the rate that would be applicable if she were entitled to be paid salary
under that sub-regulation.
"(8.) An officer
or employee occupying a position of Senior Social Worker, Grade 2, Senior
Social Worker, Grade 1, or Social Worker in a State or Territory of the
Commonwealth shall be paid salary within the limits of rates of annual salary
payable to an officer, within the meaning of the Public ServiceAct 1922-1964,
performing like duty in that State or Territory.
"(9.) The
provisions of sub-regulations (3.), (4.), (5.), (6.) and (7.) of this
regulation apply to and in relation to an officer or employee occupying a
position referred to in the last preceding sub-regulation as if—
(a)the
designation of that position were specified in the second column of Part I. of
the table in sub-regulation (1.) of this regulation;
(b) the limits of rates of annual salary applicable under the last
preceding sub-regulation were specified in the third column of that table
opposite to that designation; and
(c) an amount by way of annual increment equal to the annual
increment payable to an officer performing the like duties were specified in
the fourth column of that table opposite to that designation.
"(10.) Where
the officer or employee occupying a position the designation of which is
specified in the first column of the table in this sub-regulation is of an age
specified in the second column of that table opposite to that designation, the
officer or the employee is entitled to be paid salary at the annual rate of
salary specified opposite to that age, if the officer or employee is a male, in
the third column of that table or, if the officer or employee is a female, in
the fourth column of that table.
