s1 2 s4 Nature Conservation (Wildlife) No. 327, 1994 ˙ Short title 1. This regulation may be cited as the Nature Conservation (Wildlife) Regulation 1994 . ˙ Common wildlife 2. Native wildlife specified in the Schedule is common wildlife. ˙ Significance 3. Common wildlife are a feature of Queensland’s biodiversity and are often vital components of the ecosystem they live in, representing— (a) a natural and genetic resource that can help in understanding the evolution of Australia’s biota; and (b) a resource of potential benefit to society. ˙ Proposed management intent 4.(1) The proposed management intent for common wildlife is as follows— (a) to monitor and review the conservation status of common wildlife; (b) to encourage genuine research and inventory programs likely to contribute to an understanding of common wildlife; (c) to incorporate into educational material and programs information about common wildlife’s contribution to Queensland’s biodiversity. (2) In addition, the proposed management intent for common wildlife includes ensuring governments have regard to the special cultural significance of common wildlife and the management requirements needed to conserve existing populations of common wildlife.
