This regulation may be cited as the Nature Conservation (Protected Areas) Amendment Regulation (No. 6) 1998 . ˙ Regulation amended 2. This regulation amends the Nature Conservation (Protected Areas) Regulation 1994 . ˙ Amendment of sch 2 (National parks) 3.(1) Schedule 2, entry for ‘Dryander National Park’— omit, insert— ‘Dryander National Park Lot 24 on NPW559, lot 1 on CP855689 and lot 145 on plan HR1193 situated in the County of Herbert, containing an area of about 11 860.78 ha’. (2) Schedule 2, entry for ‘Precipice National Park’— omit, insert ‘Precipice National Park Lot 40 on NPW578 situated in the County of Labouchere, containing an area of about 10 400 ha’. (3) Schedule 2, entry for ‘Snake Range National Park’— omit, insert— ‘Snake Range National Park Lot 121 on plan NPW587 situated in the County of Plantagenet, containing an area of 2 687.695 ha’. ˙ Amendment of sch 3 (Conservation parks) 4. Schedule 5— insert PART 22—BRIGOODA NATURE REFUGE ˙ Name 106. Brigooda Nature Refuge. ˙ Description 107. The part of Lot 23 on plan BO119 situated in the County of Boondooma, containing an area of about 1.79 ha, shown hachured on plan PA 25. ˙ Significant cultural and natural resources and values 108.(1) The nature refuge supports— (a) a regrowth vine forest representative of an ecosystem that is poorly represented in the protected area estate, and which is considered endangered due to extensive clearing; and (b) the vulnerable plant species Denhamia parvifolia and the poorly known plant species Diuris parvipetala ; and (c) the vulnerable black throated finch ( Poephila cincta cincta ) and the rare square-tailed kite ( Lophoictinia isura ); and (d) the giant soil-burrowing cockroach ( Neogeoscapheus barbarae ), which is known only at 2 sites and has been recorded in high numbers on the refuge.
s5 4 s5 Nature Conservation (Protected Areas) Amendment (No. 6) No. 225, 1998 (2) The animal mentioned in subsection (1)(d) is the subject of an application by the Queensland Museum for Heritage Listing (Invertebrate). ˙ Proposed management intent and use 109. The refuge will be managed, under the conservation agreement between the land-holder and the Minister, to— (a) prevent commercial activity that may significantly affect the integrity of the natural values of the nature refuge; and (b) allow limited cattle grazing in specific parts of the nature refuge as a fire preventative; and (c) allow access to special interest groups for nature based tourism, recreation and scientific research. ˙ Duration 110. The duration of the declaration of the nature refuge is the duration of the conservation agreement. PART 23—RANGE VIEW NATURE REFUGE ˙ Name 111. Range View Nature Refuge. ˙ Description 112. The parts of Lot 46 on plan CWL2443, lot 2 on plan CWL3626, lot 23 on plan CWL504, lot 153 on plan CWL2679 and lot 488 on plan OL226 situated in the County of Cardwell, containing an area of about 4 530 ha, shown hachured on plan PA20.

The nature refuge supports— (a) a densely vegetated, well-developed rainforest classified as complex notophyll vine forest in the undisturbed areas of the refuge; and (b) several mature specimens of the endangered Sankowskya stipularis , which is poorly represented in the protected area estate; and (c) many specimens of the rare shrub Symplocos crassiramifera , and at least 121 native plant species, including 5 rare species; and (d) numerous animal species, the most notable being the red legged pademelon, musky rat kangaroo and green ringtail possum. ˙ Proposed management intent and use 114. The refuge will be managed, under the conservation agreement between the land-holder and the Minister, to— (a) prevent commercial activity that may significantly affect the integrity of the forest in the nature refuge; and (b) allow the use of guide dogs in the nature refuge; and (c) allow access to special interest groups for nature based tourism, recreation and scientific research. ˙ Duration 115. The duration of the declaration of the nature refuge is the duration of the conservation agreement.’.
