This regulation may be cited as the Nature Conservation (Protected Areas) Amendment Regulation (No. 5) 1996 . ˙ Regulation amended 2. This regulation amends the Nature Conservation (Protected Areas) Regulation 1994 . ˙ Amendment of sch 2 (National parks) 3.(1) Schedule 2, entry for ‘Fort Lytton National Park’— omit, insert— ‘Fort Lytton National Park Lot 116 on plan NPW564 situated in the County of Stanley, containing an area of 12.6188 ha’. (2) Schedule 2, entry for ‘Poona National Park’— omit, insert— ‘Poona National Park Lot 118 on plan NPW567 situated in the County of March, containing an area of about 5010 ha’. (3) Schedule 2, entry for ‘Tamborine National Park’— omit, insert— ‘Tamborine National Park Lot 441 on plan NPW469, lot 158 on plan WD4696, lot 9 on plan W312543, lot 169 on plan WD5103 and lots 4 and 5 on RP172432 situated in the County of Ward, containing an area of about 1160 ha’. The parts of lot 44 on plan RP801337 and lot 177 on plan LN2465 situated in the County of Livingstone, containing an area of about 634 ha, shown hachured on plan PA4.
s6 5 s6 Nature Conservation (Protected Areas) Amendment (No. 5) No. 264, 1996 ‘ Significant cultural and natural resources and values ‘ 13. The nature refuge supports— (a) open eucalypt forest on skeletal granitic or sedimentary soils; and (b) tall open forests along creeks; and (c) softwood scrub communities on sandstone ridge crests and igneous boulder scree; and (d) significant flora, including— (i) the black ironbox ( Eucalyptus raveretiana ); and (ii) the asparagus fern ( Asparagus racemosus ); and (e) a habitat suitable for the koala ( Phascolarctos cinereus ). ‘ Proposed management intent and use ‘ 14. The nature refuge will be managed, under the conservation agreement between the land-holder and the Minister, to— (a) provide a suitable site for the relocation of koalas from the catchment area for the Fitzroy and Dawson Rivers; and (b) maintain the area’s softwood scrubs in a natural condition, particularly by controlling the impact of fire on the area; and (c) provide for— (i) the continued maintenance and use of transmission lines and associated access roads; and (ii) the continued maintenance and use of infrastructure associated with a water supply dam and pipelines; and (iii) access through the area for an adjoining land-holder; and (iv) limited pedestrian access for environmental education; and (v) limited cattle grazing by an adjoining land-holder to reduce fuel loads; and
s6 6 s6 Nature Conservation (Protected Areas) Amendment (No. 5) No. 264, 1996 (vi) environmental research and monitoring; and (vii) the collection of seeds from plants. ‘ Duration ‘ 15.
