This regulation may be cited as the Nature Conservation (Protected Areas) Amendment Regulation (No. 4) 1996 . ˙ Regulation amended 2. This regulation amends the Nature Conservation (Protected Areas) Regulation 1994 . ˙ Insertion of new pt heading 3. Before section 1— insert — ‘ PART 1—PRELIMINARY ’. ˙ Insertion of new pt heading 4. The duration of the declaration of a nature refuge is stated in schedule 5. ‘ PART 4—COORDINATED CONSERVATION AREAS ˙ ‘ Declaration and naming of coordinated conservation areas ‘ 10. Each of the areas of land described in schedule 6 is— (a) declared a coordinated conservation area; and (b) assigned the name specified in the schedule. ˙ ‘ Interim management intent ‘ 11.(1) The interim management intent for a coordinated conservation area is stated in schedule 6. ‘ (2) Subsection (1) has effect subject to sections 17 and 23 1 of the Act. ˙ ‘ Duration ‘ 12. The duration of the declaration of a coordinated conservation area is stated in schedule 6. 1 Sections 17 (Management principles of national parks) and 23 (Management principles of coordinated conservation areas)

In the description of an area in a schedule, a reference to a plan, the number of which uses— (a) the prefix ‘NPW’ or ‘PA’—is a reference to a plan held by and available for inspection in the department; and (b) the prefix ‘FTY’—is a reference to a plan held by and available for inspection in the department that deals with matters arising under the Forestry Act 1959 ; and (c) any other prefix—is a reference to a plan held by and available for inspection in the department that deals with matters arising under the Land Act 1994 .’. ˙ Amendment of sch 2 (National parks) 7.(1) Schedule 2, entry for ‘Fort Lytton National Park’— omit, insert — ‘Fort Lytton National Park Lot 34 on plan NPW557 situated in the County of Stanley, containing an area of 12.6188 ha’. After schedule 5— insert — ‘ SCHEDULE 6 s9 No. 104, 1996 ‘ KOALA BUSHLAND COORDINATED CONSERVATION AREA sections 10, 11 and 12 ˙ ‘ Name ‘ 1. Koala Bushland Coordinated Conservation Area. ˙ ‘ Description ‘ 2. The land situated in the County of Stanley, Parish of Redland— (a) containing an area of about 1 170 ha, shown hachured on plan PA3; and (b) extending to a height of 1 067.5 m above the surface of the land. ˙ ‘ Significant cultural and natural resources and values ‘ 3. The coordinated conservation area contains— (a) open forests and woodlands, including the following tree species— (i) tallowwood ( Eucalyptus microcorys ); (ii) Queensland blue gum ( Eucalyptus tereticornis ); (iii) red mahogany ( Eucalyptus resinifera ); (iv) grey gum ( Eucalyptus propinqua ); (v) Queensland white stringy-bark ( Eucalyptus nigra ); and
s9 8 s9 Nature Conservation (Protected Areas) Amendment (No. 4) No. 104, 1996 (b) a significant koala habitat that supports several hundred koalas; and (c) streams that support native wildlife, including the following— (i) platypus ( Ornithorhynchus anatinus ); (ii) 3 species of crustacean; (iii) 5 fish species, including the ornate rainbowfish ( Rhadinocentrus ornatus ). ˙ ‘ Interim management intent and use ‘ 4.(1) The coordinated conservation area comprises— (a) 3 areas, each of which is the subject of a separate conservation agreement; and (b) Venman Bushland National Park. ‘ (2) The coordinated conservation area will be managed to— (a) conserve the area’s koala population and habitat; and (b) conserve the area’s habitat for aquatic native animals; and (c) allow for a range of recreational activities, including horseriding; and (d) allow for educational activities; and (e) allow quarrying and commercial beekeeping on parts of the area; and (f) control the landing of aircraft; and (g) maintain the interests of the land-holders who are parties to the agreements. ˙ ‘ Duration ‘ 5. The duration of the declaration of the coordinated conservation area is— (a) for an area the subject of a conservation agreement—the duration
