s1 2 s4 Nature Conservation (Macropod Harvest Period) (No. 3) No. 370, 1996 ˙ Short title 1. This notice may be cited as the Nature Conservation (Macropod Harvest Period) Notice (No. 3) 1996 . ˙ Commencement 2. This notice commences on 1 January 1997. ˙ Prescribed size and weight of macropod for this notice 3. For this notice, a macropod is— (a) the prescribed size if it has a skin size of 0.46 m 2 or more; and (b) the prescribed weight if— (i) for a macropod taken for animal food within the meaning of the MeatIndustryAct1993 —its carcass weighs 14 kg or more; or (ii) for a macropod taken for human food within the meaning of the MeatIndustryAct1993 —its carcass weighs 15 kg or more. ˙ Harvest period for certain macropods 4.(1) This section applies to the following macropods— (a) an eastern grey kangaroo ( Macropus giganteus ); (b) a red kangaroo ( Macropus rufus ); (c) a wallaroo ( Macropus robustus ). (2) A harvest period for the macropods starts on 1 January 1997 and ends on 31 December 1997. (3) The harvest period applies only in the areas of the local governments stated for the macropods in the schedule. (4) A macropod taken for its skin only must be the prescribed size.
s5 3 s6 Nature Conservation (Macropod Harvest Period) (No. 3) No. 370, 1996 (5) A macropod taken for both its carcass and skin must be the prescribed size and weight. ˙ Harvest period for whiptail wallaby 5.(1) This section applies to the whiptail wallaby ( Macropus parryi ). (2) A harvest period for the whiptail wallaby starts on 1 January 1997 and ends on 31 December 1997. (3) The harvest period applies only in the areas of the local governments stated for the whiptail wallaby in the schedule. ˙ Repeal 6. The Nature Conservation (Macropod Harvest Period) Notice (No. 2) 1996 is repealed.

The areas of all local governments other than Atherton, Aurukun, Brisbane, Cairns, Caloundra, Charters Towers, Cook, Cooloola, Dalby, Douglas, Eacham, Gladstone, Gold Coast, Goondiwindi, Hervey Bay, Hinchinbrook, Johnstone, Logan, Mackay, Mareeba, Maroochy, Maryborough, Mornington, Noosa, Pine Rivers, Redcliffe, Redland, Rockhampton, Roma, Thuringowa, Toowoomba, Torres, Townsville and Whitsunday. ˙ Red kangaroo 2.
