This regulation may be cited as the Nature Conservation Legislation Amendment Regulation (No. 1) 1997 . PART 2—AMENDMENT OF NATURE CONSERVATION REGULATION 1994 ˙ Regulation amended 2. This part amends the Nature Conservation Regulation 1994 . ˙ Amendment of sch 1 (Powers of trustees of conservation parks and resources reserves) 3.(1) Schedule 1, section 1, heading— omit, insert Lake Broadwater Conservation Park ’. (2) Schedule 1, section 1(1), after ‘trustees’— insert ‘of Lake Broadwater Conservation Park’. (3) Schedule 1— insert— ˙ Denmark Hill, Flinders Peak, Ipswich Pteropus, Mount Beau Brummel, White Rock and White Rock (Limited Depth) Conservation Parks 2.(1) This section applies to the trustees of each of the following conservation parks—
s3 4 s3 Nature Conservation Legislation Amendment No. 418, 1997 (No. 1) Denmark Hill Conservation Park Flinders Peak Conservation Park Ipswich Pteropus Conservation Park Mount Beau Brummel Conservation Park White Rock Conservation Park White Rock (Limited Depth) Conservation Park. (2) The trustees have the powers of the chief executive under chapters 1 (Preliminary) and 2 (Protected areas) for the conservation park for which they are trustees. (3) However, the trustees do not have the power— (a) to grant Aboriginal tradition or Island custom authorities; or (b) to grant permits to take, use, keep or interfere with cultural or natural resources; or (c) to grant commercial activity or special activity permits; or (d) to grant stock grazing, stock mustering or travelling stock permits; or (e) to approve the use of a herbicide or pesticide. ˙ Springwood Conservation Park 3.(1) The trustees of Springwood Conservation Park have the powers of the chief executive under chapters 1 (Preliminary) and 2 (Protected areas) for the conservation park. (2) However, the trustees do not have the power— (a) to grant Aboriginal tradition or Island custom authorities; or (b) to grant permits to take, use, keep or interfere with cultural or natural resources; or (c) to grant commercial activity or special activity permits; or
s3 5 s3 Nature Conservation Legislation Amendment No. 418, 1997 (No. 1) (d) to grant stock grazing, stock mustering or travelling stock permits; or (e) to approve the use of a herbicide or pesticide. ˙ Anderson Street and Kamerunga Conservation Parks 4.(1) This section applies to the trustees of each of the following conservation parks— Anderson Street Conservation Park Kamerunga Conservation Park. (2) The trustees have the powers of the chief executive under chapters 1 (Preliminary) and 2 (Protected areas) for the conservation park for which they are trustees. (3) However, the trustees do not have the power— (a) to grant Aboriginal tradition or Island custom authorities; or (b) to grant permits to take, use, keep or interfere with cultural or natural resources; or (c) to grant commercial activity or special activity permits. ˙ Mount Whitfield Conservation Park 5.(1) The trustees of Mount Whitfield Conservation Park have the powers of the chief executive under chapters 1 (Preliminary) and 2 (Protected areas). (2) However, the trustees do not have the power— (a) to grant Aboriginal tradition or Island custom authorities; or (b) to grant permits to take, use, keep or interfere with cultural or natural resources; or (c) to grant commercial activity or special activity permits, other than under subsection (3). (3) The trustees may grant special activity permits for special activities associated with the conduct of rock climbing at the Aeroglen quarry.’.

This part amends the Nature Conservation (Protected Areas) Regulation 1994 . ˙ Amendment of sch 3A (Trustees of conservation parks) 5. Schedule 3A— insert— ‘Denmark Hill Conservation Park Ipswich City Council Flinders Peak Conservation Park Ipswich City Council Ipswich Pteropus Conservation Ipswich City Council Park M o u n t Beau Conservation Park Bru m m e l Ipswich City Council Springwood Conservation Park Logan City Council White Rock Conservation Park Ipswich City Council White Rock (Limited Depth) Conservation Park Ipswich City Council’. ˙ Amendment of sch 4 (Resources reserves) 6.(1) Schedule 4, entry for ‘Morgan Park Resources Reserve’— omit, insert—

(2) Schedule 4, entry for ‘Stones Country Resources Reserve’— omit, insert— ‘Stones Country Resources Reserve Lot 62 on plan FT1018 situated in the County of Fortescue, containing an area of 259.7 ha the chief executive of the department’. ˙ Amendment of sch 5 (Nature refuges) 7. Schedule 5— insert— PART 11—DILKUSHA NATURE REFUGE ˙ Name 51. Dilkusha Nature Refuge. ˙ Description 52. The part of the lots on plan GTP2679 situated in the County of March, containing an area of about 15.8 ha, shown hachured on plan PA13.

The nature refuge supports— (a) a relatively intact remnant of the sub-tropical rainforest that once extended across the Blackall Range; and (b) an area containing significant native plants, including the rare thready-barked myrtle ( Austromyrtus inophloia ), the vulnerable smooth-barked rose apple ( Syzygium hodgkinsoniae ), the vulnerable bauple nut ( Macadamia integrifolia ) and the vulnerable maroochy nut ( Macadamia ternifolia ). ˙ Proposed management intent and use 54. The nature refuge will be managed, under the conservation agreement between the land-holder and the Minister, to— (a) maintain and foster native wildlife populations and communities; and (b) allow certain domestic animals on the nature refuge if restrained; and (c) allow the construction, maintenance and use of minimal-disturbance walking tracks and shelters; and (d) allow seed collection for the regeneration of forests in the Blackall Range. ˙ Duration 55. The duration of the declaration of the nature refuge is the duration of the conservation agreement. PART 12—ARTEMIS ANTBED NATURE REFUGE
s7 9 s7 Nature Conservation Legislation Amendment No. 418, 1997 (No. 1) ˙ Name 56. Artemis Antbed Nature Refuge. ˙ Description 57. The part of Lot 4365 on plan PH1824 situated in the County of Hann, containing an area of 2 115.75 ha, shown hachured on plan PA14. ˙ Significant cultural and natural resources and values 58. The nature refuge supports a diverse array of endemic native plants and animals, including 1 of 2 known populations, in the world, of the endangered golden-shouldered parrot ( Psephotus chrysopterygius ). ˙ Proposed management intent and use 59. The nature refuge will be managed, under the conservation agreement between the land-holder and the Minister, to— (a) maintain and foster native wildlife populations and communities; and (b) allow certain domestic animals on certain parts of the nature refuge; and (c) allow scientific research and monitoring; and (d) integrate pastoral activities with conservation objectives. ˙ Duration 60. The duration of the declaration of the nature refuge is the duration of the conservation agreement. PART 13—HUGHES NATURE REFUGE
s 7 10 s 7 Nature Conservation Legislation Amendment No. 418, 1997 (No. 1) ˙ Name 61. Hughes Nature Refuge. ˙ Description 62. Lot 127 on plan LX575 situated in the County of Lennox, containing an area of 112.8719 ha. ˙ Significant cultural and natural resources and values 63. The nature refuge supports— (a) a large tract of semi-evergreen vine thicket; and (b) an area of significant plant diversity, in which 329 plant species had been identified as at the date of the conservation agreement between the land-holder and the Minister (including 2 rare vascular plant species); and (c) an area of significant animal diversity, in which 284 vertebrate animal species had been sighted as at the date of the conservation agreement (including 13 species prescribed as vulnerable, rare or endangered wildlife). ˙ Proposed management intent and use 64. The nature refuge will be managed, under the conservation agreement, to— (a) maintain and foster native wildlife populations and communities; and (b) allow silviculture to occur on certain parts of the nature refuge; and (c) allow certain domestic animals on certain parts of the nature refuge.
s 7 11 s 7 Nature Conservation Legislation Amendment No. 418, 1997 (No. 1) ˙ Duration 65. The duration of the declaration of the nature refuge is the duration of the conservation agreement. PART 14—RAVENSBOURNE NATURE REFUGE ˙ Name 66. Ravensbourne Nature Refuge. ˙ Description 67. Lot 3 on plan RP59920 situated in the County of Cavendish, containing an area of 301.385 ha. ˙ Significant cultural and natural resources and values 68. The nature refuge supports— (a) a significant area of blackbutt ( Eucalyptus pilularis ); and (b) examples of most of the eucalypts occurring in the Moreton Basin, including the broadleaved spotted gum ( Corymbia henryi ) and Queensland white stringy-bark ( Eucalyptustindaliae ) that are endemic to the Moreton Basin; and (c) a forested corridor connecting Ravensbourne National Park and Deongwar State Forest. ˙ Proposed management intent and use 69. The nature refuge will be managed, under the conservation agreement between the land-holder and the Minister— (a) to prevent any commercial activity in the nature refuge; and (b) in accordance with the management principles of a national park.
