s1 2 s5 Nature Conservation (Duck and Quail Harvest Period) No. 93, 2002 Notice 2002 PART 1—PRELIMINARY 1 Short title This notice may be cited as the Nature Conservation (Duck and Quail Harvest Period) Notice 2002 . 2 Definitions In this notice— “duck” see the Nature Conservation (Duck and Quail) Conservation Plan 1995 , section 2(1). “quail” see the Nature Conservation (Duck and Quail) Conservation Plan 1995 , section 2(1). PART 2—HARVEST PERIOD FOR DUCKS 3 Harvest period for ducks—central and northern regions A harvest period for ducks for the areas of the local governments stated in schedule 1, part 1, starts on 6 July 2002 and ends on 29 September 2002. 4 Harvest period for ducks—southern region A harvest period for ducks for the areas of the local governments stated in schedule 1, part 2, starts on 1 June 2002 and ends on 25 August 2002. 5 Conditions on taking or possessing ducks A person must not— (a) take a duck if— (i) the duck is not in flight; or (ii) the person is in a moving boat; or (b) take more than 12 ducks in a period of 24 hours; or

s6 3 s8 Nature Conservation (Duck and Quail Harvest Period) No. 93, 2002 Notice 2002 (c) use a lead shot to take a duck from Greenlakes, Lisgar Station or Lake Powlathanga; or (d) possess at a place, other than the person’s usual place of residence, more than 30 ducks. PART 3—HARVEST PERIOD FOR QUAILS 6 Harvest period for quails A harvest period for quails for the areas of the local governments stated in schedule 2 starts on 11 May 2002 and ends on 4 August 2002. 7 Conditions on taking or possessing quails A person must not— (a) take more than 25 quails in a period of 24 hours; or (b) possess at a place, other than the person’s usual place of residence, more than 60 quails. PART 4—EXPIRY OF NOTICE 8 Expiry This notice expires on 30 September 2002.
