s1 2 s4 Nature Conservation (Duck and Quail Harvest No. 87, 2000 Period) ˙ Short title 1. This notice may be cited as the Nature Conservation (Duck and Quail Harvest Period) Notice 2000 . ˙ Harvest period for ducks—northern and central region 2.(1) A harvest period for ducks for the northern and central region starts on 1 July 2000 and ends on 24 September 2000. (2) The harvest period applies only in the northern and central region. (3) In this section— “northern and central region” means the areas of the local governments stated in the schedule, part 1, item 1. ˙ Harvest period for ducks—southern region 3.(1) A harvest period for ducks for the southern region starts on 17 June 2000 and ends on 9 September 2000. (2) The harvest period applies only in the southern region. (3) In this section— “southern region” means the areas of the local governments stated in the schedule, part 1, item 2. ˙ Conditions on taking ducks 4. A person must not— (a) shoot a duck if— (i) the duck is not in flight; or (ii) the person is in a moving boat; or (b) take more than 12 ducks, regardless of species, in a period of 24 hours; or (c) have in possession at a place, other than the person’s usual place of residence, more than 30 ducks, regardless of species; or
s5 3 s6 Nature Conservation (Duck and Quail Harvest No. 87, 2000 Period) (d) use lead shot to take ducks at the following places— (i) Greenlakes; (ii) Lisgar Station; (iii) Lake Powlathanga. ˙ Harvest period for quails 5.(1) A harvest period for quails starts on 19 May 2000 and ends on 6 August 2000. (2) The harvest period applies only in the areas of the local governments stated in the schedule, part 2. (3) A person must not— (a) take more than 25 quails, regardless of species, in a period of 24 hours; or (b) have in possession at a place, other than the person’s usual place of residence, more than 60 quails, regardless of species. ˙ Expiry 6. This notice expires on 24 September 2000.
