This Act may be cited as "The Native .Animals Short title. Protection .Act of 19U6." 2. 9034 ANIMALS. Native Animals Protection Lict. 6 EDW. VII. No. 5, 1906. Penalty for offering for sale any native bear or opossum or the skin thereof. 4. (1.) Any person who within the period herein- before mentioned sells, offers for sale, or has in his control or possession any native bear or opossum recently killed or taken, or the skin of any such native bear or opossum, shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding five pounds, unless he proves that such animal was killed, taken, bought, or received either at a time other than during the period aforesaid or in or from another State. (2.) Nothing herein contained shall prevent any person from having or keeping any native bear or opossum in a state of confinement, provided the animal is not taken or captured during the period aforesaid. Penalty for having in possession 'Carcass of absolutely protected animal. [Schedule.] 5. Any person who at any time sells or offers for sale, or has in his control or possession, any carcass recently killed of any of the animals mentioned in the Schedule to this Act shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding five pounds unless he proves that such animal was killed in another State. Any person who is guilty of u contravention of this section shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding ten pounds. Penalty for refusing to give name, place of abode, &0. 7. (1.) Any member of the police force may require any person offending against this Act to give his name in full and place of abode. (2.) Exceptions. 9. This Act, except section six thereof, shall not apply to- (a) Any person authorised by the Secretary for Agriculture to collect specimens of natural history for any scientific institution or museum or for the purpose of carrying on any scientific investigation, or to any person authorised by him to collect native animals for any purpose specified in such authority; or

Audit Act Amendment Act. 903l} (b) Any person killing any native animal upon his own land for the bona fide protection of his own crops or orchard, or to any servant killing any native animal upon the land of his master by dirl?ction of such master for the bona fide protection of ~ lUch master's crops or orchard; or (c) Any aboriginal killing any native animal for his own food. THE SCHEDULE. Native animals absolutely protected;- Tree Kangaroo (all species of Dendrolagus) ; Wombat (Phascolomys gil!espieii) ; Duck Mole or Platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus) j Hedgehog or Echidna (Echidna aculeata). [ 1 ASSENTED TO 5TH NOVEMBER, 1906.. AUDIT ACT AMENDMENT ACT OF 1906. B E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Council and Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :- 1. l'his Act may be cited as " The Audit Act Amend- Short title. meni Act oJ 1H06," and shall be. read as one with " The Audit Acts, 1874 to 1895."* This Act and those Acts may together be cited as " The Audit Acts, 1874 to HW6." 2. Section six of "The .Audit Act .Amendment .Act Amendment ?f ~ 895 "t is repealed, and the following section is inserted ~o~ ;~i;. 6. m lieu thereof :- [6.J The moneys standing to the credit of the Public App!ication Debt Reduction Fund shall be applied by the 'l'rustees- of Fund.
